(just a little something I’ve been rolling around in my head, based on the folk tale of Vasilisa and Baba Yaga, with a heavy dose of Gogol’s Dikanka stories)

Hux knows better than to look for the Fern Flower on Kupala Night. It had been a childish dream, once: find the elusive, sorcerous bloom in the forest, and learn the tongue of birds, open any lock, see all the treasures men keep hidden, take whatever shape he desires.

Ferns don’t bloom; he knows that now. Still, chores finished, he watches the rest of the villagers light the bonfires and dance. At midnight, he takes off his wreath, and lets the daisies and clover float downstream, hoping to divine his future.

Kylo has no interest in the villagers’ festivities, though he takes the offerings they leave at the forest edge.

day 2 

Exiled Hux (1/?)

After the failure of Starkiller, Hux is stripped of his rank and sent into exile as punishment for his mistakes but it isn’t long before Kylo comes after him, claiming to have destroyed the Supreme Leader to ensure that the First Order is safe for Hux to return to and take control of. But Hux doesn’t give him the warm welcome that Kylo had wanted.

“Long time, no see, General,” Kylo says in a playful tone, wanting to immediately return to the blossoming dynamic they had before Snoke had forced them to part. He smirks behind the comfort of his mask, taking in how much Hux has changed since they last met. Hux’s hair has grown long in his absence but Kylo can only concentrate on the seemingly permanent cold look on Hux’s face, the frigid scowl that has never made Kylo feel so uncomfortable before. As his ex-General strides closer, Kylo stands rooted to the ground, staring into Hux’s empty eyes, absently noting the blaster in his hand. “Hux?”

Star Wars AU: Clan Techie

Armitage was nine years old when Rebel Mercenaries took his brother. He was hiding inside an empty charging unit as he watched the Mercs kill their mother and grab a terrified Bren. “For trade purposes,” one of the Mercenaries had joked.

Armitage Hux was eighteen years old when he graduated top of his class at the Academy. Much to everyone’s surprise and dismay, he asked to be assigned to reconnaissance in the Outer Rim Borders. Every mission he took would end the same way: with a visit to the local slavers guild, searching for a face similar to his.

General Hux was twenty-nine years old when he got a snippet of fourth-hand information that his brother was possibly bought by a group of traders well-known for the vicious treatment and practical mutilation of their slaves. That day, the General gave up looking for his brother. He also stopped looking in mirrors.

Hux was Thirty-four years old when Kylo Ren and Lieutenant Mitaka disappeared for three weeks on an unauthorized mission to retrieve an allegedly valuable asset from a Resistance Base. He had prepared his disciplinary action speech for them well into the second week. However, any admonishments he had were completely forgotten when he saw the twitching, nervous wreck of an “asset.”
