The problem with that solution is that the school’s I’m interested in attending aren’t ones that will permit a transfer based solely on a grade point average, as exceptional as mine is. Simply put, the academies I wanted to attend all involved detailed audition process coupled with a minuscule pool of individuals that are accepted each year. I blew my chance by not being admitted during my senior year… As much as I hate this rather defeatist mantra; it is what it is. My best option is to stick it out in Arizona for another year and move to the city the moment I have my diploma in hand.

Jersey, hmm? What school, and what are you studying there?

Well at least Arizona isn’t too bad except for the heat. I don’t think I’d be able to stick it out in a state that was known for being so hot.

I don’t know that I’d go as far as to say that I’m happy. I don’t think I’ll ever be truly content until I’m in New York, pursuing a career on Broadway like I’m destined to do…but I suppose I’m at peace with the fact that earning my degree at Arizona State is acceptable at the very least.

You could always transfer to a college near New York. I’m in Jersey and I think it’s A+, but then again I spend most of my days at school hanging out with people who I can relate to.

The so-called “bears” that polluted our collective student body hardly require poking to spring into beastly, uncouth behavior. I was simply preparing myself for the worst. The notion that anyone who spent as much time hating and attempting to tear me down as they did requiring a reminder of my disastrous short-coming and the resulting meltdown needing a reminder of such is doubtful at best.

Well did you at least end up at a college where you’re happy?

I don’t recall saying anything about being happy… That would have been easier, certainly - but I’m not assuming that there were people that yearned for my failure. My entire high school career was tormented by those very people, so I felt the need to defend myself immediately. It seemed like the safer route as opposed to blindly acting as though nothing went wrong and then having to sit through the inevitable degradation before having the opportunity to state my defense.

I mean fair enough but also bringing up stuff like your breakdown and not getting into the college you wanted might just remind people and ‘poke the bears’ so to speak
