I finally watched TADC and i'm sooo ready to get back to mah favorite part of the fandom experience: the criticism✨✨✨ Idk why i enjoy it so much, but it genuinely brings me so much pleasure to break down the writing and find faults in there. I actually usually equally enjoy praising things, but after a couple years of hearing only "TADC is the best show ever made" about it i wanna hear new perspectives, so i'll be reblogging tons of TADC critical stuff soon.

I was so baffled at how this scene from the finale was trying to look "peaceful" and "beautiful" like wtf
The abstractions are living people that are stuck in a state where they feel constantly terrified and disoriented (the reason they usually try to attack everything they see), being abstracted feels like literal hell, we are looking at beings who are trapped in eternal torture and yet we're supposed to be like aww pretty fishes
Kinger never got to bitch slap Jax (or even talk to him at all really) and that's probably the worst part of the entire show. Like I remember waiting since episode 6 for those two to talk to each other/for Kinger's wisdom to get shoved in that damn lagomorph's head but. Nope. Jax gets angry at Kinger for 2 seconds and pushes him and Kinger exposition dumps to everyone. That is the only canon interaction those two have.

I have issues with the tadc writing but I also have issues with the extreme critics but I Also have issues with the general fandom but I ALSO have issues with the outside "omg this fandom is the Worst Fandom EVER" crowd but I A L S O have issues with how the general fandom AND the outside crowd treated black fans during the controversy a few weeks ago, BUT I A L S O HAVE ISSU-
so it was better to kill jax off rather than teach him to live with the consequences of his actions while atoning for what he did for others. got it.
The moment i switched from being neutral about Jax to hating him happened in episode 1. It was this.
A lot of people brushed this off as just another Jax being edgy moment. But I think this scene says something more uncomfortable than most fans (and even criticals) acknowledge. So i'm starting a discussion
I haven't seen anyone discuss the misogyny and fatphobia built into this scene, probably because it’s framed as a harmless joke. Especially if you don't think much about it. The Gloink Queen is just an ugly cartoon monster, and Jax is just a funny cartoon bunny. However, cartoons don't exist in a vacuum, do they?
I think as someone who was the weird kid, the reason Jax is very much my least favorite character is that he reminds me of a lot of people who were cruel to me, but got away with it because they were funny or socially competent in a way I wasn’t.

so jax. specifically. talking about her (? i feel like trans jax was somewhat confirmed) at all (esp in fandom) feels like you’re back with your manipulative boyfriend. all your friends like him. he’s funny. but then he does something off. it almost feels shitty to point it out (he was having a bad day) then he does it again. suddenly it’s all at you lmao. constantly. but never in public. not the bad shit at least. then you call it out and suddenly everyone around you calls out “he’s been having a hard time” “well, it was your fault for bringing up (x),” and you have to constantly remind yourself ur not insane and constantly show urself proof of him behind shitty. /lh? not srs just annoyed
Oh so the moral lesson about Jax is that even bad people still deserve kindness and support despite their harmful behavior, because in the end they're still people and they can chang- Oh my God did he actually just abstract. Without learning anything. Did he actually die what was the point
