Building in the courts and halls of Canadian government for years, conflict over the mammoth Trans Mountain tar- sands oil-pipeline expansion is expected to spill into the streets of British Columbia Saturday with massive civil disobedience demonstrations.

Indigenous leaders from along the pipeline route and the U.S. are expected to join a march and rally beginning Saturday in metro Vancouver. Nearly 7,000 Coast Salish Water Protectors — as the pipeline opponents call themselves — have signed up to participate, said Will George of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, spokesman for the Protect the Inlet movement.

“We cannot stand by anymore,” George said. “It is going to be like Standing Rock,” where thousands of so-called water protectors stood against the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota in 2016.

“The similarity is we are standing up to protect our water. And we are going to do this in a peaceful way,” George said. “ It is going to mark a day in history; it will be a massive mobilization.”

A LOT of Canadians shared just about every post about #NODAPL. This is Canada’s #NODAPL and thousands of people are going to be descending tomorrow in Vancouver in a massive Indigenous lead protest against the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion which was forced through by Justin Trudeau’s government.

Also, Americans this project will effect you. Washington state shares the same water with British Columbia, and this project is going to drastically increase Super oil tanker traffic in the Haro Strait and Strait of Juan de Fuca.

If you don’t know much about this pipeline and how it will infringe on Indigenous Peoples in Canada, contribute to Climate Change and put Vancouver at a risk of a massive oil spill, I’ve included some reading below:

I’ve just made a bet against my Dad that if this post gets 2 million notes then i can get a Puppy. [like the one underneath]

I didn’t realise how much 2 million was and i couldn’t take that number down now. It should look like 2,000,000 in the notes bar.

He’s convinced that this will never reach that number, and very confident about it so Let’s prove him wrong!! He thinks this will get about 25 notes beofre it’s left in the dust.

Borrowing energies from businesses, abandoned spaces and construction equipment for on-the-fly spells. (Once I used a buzz saw being used for a building renovation for a shield spell)

Pausing at florist displays to communicate with the small fresh spirits living in the cultivated potted gift plants, their energies foreign in the space.

Meditating on public transit, buses and trains, tapping into the circuits they run, the power that sustains them, and the thousands of people constantly on and off them.

Meeting eyes with the birds who brave the city streets, connecting a kin-ess of survival under such unnatural conditions. 

Marking sigils in the crook of my elbow in sharpie after designing them on the receipts that are tangled in my pockets.

Recognizing the glamor in mundane objects in stores, items being charged by desire and brand recognition by those who handle them, recognizing the residual affect it has on you after touching it.

Instinctively finding green spaces and specific plants you enjoy (for me its lavender, I can smell it from a block away) and having a mental map of where to pilfer powerful plants from city gardens.
