Maybe I don't understand how canon works but I think "heavily implying without explicitly stating" automatically makes a detail canon 90% of the time. Jonathan Sims "doesn't have sex, at all," but people were still confused on if he's asexual. Malevolent played a song in the background of the entire series with the lyrics "you call it madness, but I call it love" and people were CONFUSED when Kayne said "some may call it madness, but I-" and then cut himself off. "What was he gonna say?" WDYM. HAVE YOU BEEN paying attention
I'm not actually mad but like. That's as good as canon to me?? It shouldn't need to be said and explained every single time a small detail is revealed. The strict interpretation of canon leaves no room for authors to trust their audience to understand the meaning without holding their hand 😭
