I have a coffee cup, I have many in fact but this one became my own inspiration for something whacky.

But first…

How old are you? Are you one of the old ‘boomer’ generation who learnt reading, writing and arithmetic (the three R’s) and I before E? or are you the new generation who never have but probably need a chiropractor for the vulture neck?

Do you know the second one? For those who don’t…

Me I am not old enough to claim fame to the ‘strongest generation’ but I was taught those rules.

It’s one of those weird English spelling rules, and my coffee cup has the mnemonic conundrum on it, and so I was sitting and drinking, as one does when using a cup, and I was like “I wonder if I can actually make this into an image.”

Lo and behold you can, but as with anything it has elements of fucked-up-ed-ness because what is munted than a little left of sideways? So here’s to the rule that actually makes no sense (add an n and you have nonsense, HA!) in the English language.

Shower thought:

The phonetics of weird is…weird.

If you are British (or Australian, as yours truly) you will pronounce the EI as an “ee”

But…

If you’re American, with your wild and whacky accents, you’ll say EI as in “ear”

The wiring of my mind is strange. Some days I’m dwelling on existential crises, running on caffeine and adrenaline filled chaos—no time to think just pure movement and action, to other days pondering where my mind dreams up celestial Fu Dogs of coffee, or vengeful cherries from television shows.

Today it runs deeper still, donning the glasses and the mental vault of academia to question the very fabric of our reality and tighten my existing scientific paper that seeks to answer the current dark matter/dark energy conundrum of the Lambda Cold Dark Model.

My very first prompt of this image was so bad, I kid you not. It was back in the time when AI was first introduced, it was the Wild West of the “ai artistic landscape” where produced images were honestly a little fucked yep.

I had taken the inspiration from my woofer, and if you haven’t seen him before, here he is. My chicken, my lulubear…my “silent” guardian except at 3am when I’m trying to sleep and my fiancé is out cold.

I know the history of the Tibetan Mastiff and so I had an idea of a prompt, and popped it and see what I got out. It wasn’t celestial, it wasn’t majestic, it looked horrendous, so I benched it and went on my merry way, experimenting with whatever took my fancy…but one day, AI adherence got better and I began revisiting old prompts.

Out it came and I was pretty happy, few tweaks and here he is. The celestial fu dog of coffee! The rise and grind hound. I mean his eyes might tell another story and look a wee bit sleepy, but he wouldn’t need coffee then would he!

We’ve all been there, it’s Monday morning. You’re dead tired, 6am alarm has just shattered you back into existential existence. Work calls from beyond the sun, not a beckon but a requirement.

You roll over sluggishly, drag your poor living corpse out of bed, into the shower and get yourself ready for the day.

Enter the kitchen, the sight of your coffee pot sitting there, the beans ready to be ground, looking almost heavenly in the glow of the early morning.

Grind em up, hot water, sugar, milk…celestial fu dog by your side, rise and grind his caption as you sip (or even gulp) your coffee down.

Now you’re ready…

Get your attention? Cool cause this has absolutely NOTHING to do with that. That song? Yeah nah but now I am curious what I would get if I did put it in, would be fun, but I digress.

All you need is love, a fantastic song by the Beatles — but this isn’t even that either.

This is an ai artists rendition of a splash art apophyosis fractal heart in oil and water. And yeah, it does remind me of the Beatles song all you need is love, and in that love, a fractal takes form.

What else would a fractal be but the visual heartbeat of the universe, something grand and infinite, with complete potential and incredible power and yet so amazing it is able to collapse upon itself, reinventing, growing, collapsing over and over and over again, creating new worlds, new possibilities…infinitely.

And what are we but condensed forms of this great macro and microcosm? Our bodies and our minds reflecting the grand curiousity of a living universe, fractals and spirals make up the most intricate parts of ourselves. As humans, we decide if we reinvent ourselves, grow, collapse, each time, over and over again until what remains is love, in its purest and most unadulterated form.

The heartbeat of the universal experience.

Does it look angry? what about vengeful? Little bit bloody? Little bit gory? I’m honestly hoping all of the above, but perhaps not for the reason you may be thinking.

This darling little cherry, with his angry tongue sticking out ready to curse the next unsuspecting victim into absolute chaos was born from one of the greatest tv shows (in my opinion) ever made.

Based on the book of the same title by Todd Grimson, the story tells of a young director trying to make her way in Hollywood, when this big movie producer tries to undermine her she meets the most enigmatic character in Boro, taking her down some of the craziest twists and turn rabbit holes of horrific folklore proportions.

If you haven’t seen it, I would 100% recommend it.

Anywho, the cherry..it’s pretty simple and I take inspiration from whatever strikes me at the time, this time it was a vengeful cherry based on a tv show.

Interestingly, I don’t think there was one scene with cherries in it…

I didn’t create this image with a mental health journey in mind, in all honesty I took the idea of kaja cola gives you ideas! (TM) from world of Warcraft and the goblin starting area, how they’re in the mines and you can free the goblins from mining slavery by giving them the cola which fuels their ideas…well yeah I took that and chucked a steampunk spin on it, but this image became way more than that…

So, this is me if I was a robot. Busted, broken, leaking oil, with a crazed look somewhat akin to mania in my eyes with a lightbulb being held steady as the only guiding light so i don’t arse over turkey it and stack my face into the floor beneath me in the most unflattering of positions.

This is actually how I feel right now, from my last post to now this is more accurate than ever, but you know what? Resilience prevails, don’t let anyone tell you, or you tell yourself that you cannot handle this, that you haven’t got this…whatever that “this” is.

You have got it.

You can handle it.

I once thought I didn’t but I have learnt that inside my squishy little flesh prison lies a heart of…it isn’t even steel at this point because it bleeds, it cries, it breaks down in stairwells at work but it also gets up, brushes itself off, picks up its lightbulb and keeps going, even when it’s tired and wants to just stop. Why? Because inside all of us is the most incredibly resilient busted little robot who keeps going not because he wants to, but because he has to. Come rain, hail or shine…you move forward, always forward.

My dog looks nothing like this, but the caption I have paired with the image speaks louder than the low hum of the tv, the flickering glow pulsing off the darkened walls of the lounge room, and yet there he lays, my silent guardian.

My husband has had major surgery and his recovery up until today has been decent, except his sleep, and choosing to lay on his side caused a slight hiccup. It’s been a night of worry, appetites lost, sleep and relaxation a distant memory, nervous system kicked into high gear…it’s been a lot.

Tea! Ah yes, tea…a beautiful mix of chamomile, passionflower and lavender have helped to calm the mind and soul. I have work in the morning but my vigil doesn’t end, the door is open, I lay but not to sleep and while he rests Khan lays beside the couch at his feet. His job tonight? Watch over him.

Love is a four legged word, and his name…Khan

I was screwing around with AI (as I do) with nothing specific on my mind, Spotify playing in the background and up pops a song. I’d been sitting there for a while trying to be creative, and when I try to force it, it’s like everything just halts and falls apart. I sat back and exhaled, just listened to the song and decided to pop the lyrics into the prompt…

Boom!

Crazy bright colours began to form in front of me, weird little gremlins, women with horns and fangs and then there he was, sitting there like a quiet beacon. Those glasses piercing through the noise to say “pick me” and I did.

Summertime voodoo is about falling in love with the chase, with the magic of life. The clock ticks regardless of whether we are in the flow or out of sync. It’s up to you to get out there. You can sit inside, allowing yourself to rot slowly or you can get outside, live life and burn like the sun.

Can we also appreciate the very close runner up? This guy… he just, I dunno, maybe I should make him as a companion?

When Kabbalah meets Munted…can you guess?

Is she alive? Is she dead? Is she Schrödinger’s cat who isn’t a cat but a living dead girl? Spot on…

Where do I even begin with this one.

From the very first time I found The Raven it set me on a path of gothic romanticism which decades later has never left. I fell in love with the literary genius of Edgar Allen Poe and the beauty in the depths of loneliness and despair which resonates through The Raven like a vibrational wave that hits you in the depths of your heart.

The Raven and the Crow are my favourite birds, I would collect their feathers as a teenager and turn my roses black. Some could say it sounds cringey and emo, to me there is a beauty, a romance and these birds encapsulated that, their intelligence is unparalleled, while their symbolism resonates with mystery. The Raven is even my Native American totem animal, coincidence? I think not…

So when my mind turned to creating this in AI, I was in love instantly. This image captures the essence of the beauty in death, loneliness and despair, the bird itself sits front and centre as a beacon of untapped unknowledge, beckoning those who wish to know its secrets to come forth. This is my nod to the poem that made my life full.

Most people have probably never heard of the term ‘munted’ but in Australia it’s basically saying something is busted, broken…a bit ‘not quite right’ which is me in a nutshell.

When I was younger, art was my outlet, the thing that sang to my heart when I found nothing else that would give me solace; but I gave up on it at a young age even though I had a natural inclination and talent for it.

Then AI came along and it sparked something in me, a long lost urge to regain some of that which I had left behind. My eye still has the detail but my hands couldn’t produce the work, AI became that bridge, it allowed me to produce my vision without the hindrance of years of neglect.

I feel rejuvenated when I create something, it is still mine, my vision but with a different outlet, a different medium…a modern one.

My art isn’t perfect, it isn’t supposed to be, because it reflects life, from my eyes. Nothing is straight, it’s wobbly and wiggly and sometimes it’s messy but within the imperfections and the faults something beautiful lies beneath, the colours, the cheerfulness coupled with messages of philosophical meaning.

This is Munted, it’s never perfect, nothing is, but through it all we see can see the beauty and that’s life.

I created this piece from a blend of my love for all things gothic, occult roots, and the Santa Muerte statue that sits on my altar at home. These things resonate deeply with me, and while the content may seem dark, there’s always that flicker of duality—whether it’s the light of a candle flame or flowers blooming over a skull.
