so. i just learned that my entirely me-written resume flags as being AI-written by automated HR systems for a few writing quirks and the fact that i followed all the rules of good resume writing, which is apparently a telltale sign of AI use in this fucking hellworld. i've been desperately applying to jobs that i am massively overqualified for for months with no response, not even an interview, and now i find out that at least part of the reason is because some fucking moron decided that following the rules every career advisor has given me for a decade means i cheated and should be disqualified. the ai bubble cannot pop soon enough. what the actual fuck.
"frequent use of action-result sentences. bullet points all start with action verbs. no career gaps." girl what the fuck are you talking about. that's just resume writing advice being followed. i just did what i was told. it's a fucking resume. you're supposed to do all that stuff. what the fuck do you mean it looks ai generated and wouldn't pass basic detection systems?????????? for following the resume writing rules????????????

Asagiri Kafka x Harukawa Sango Interview in Guidebook Tenkaroku
English translation under cut, this is translated from official Chinese translation, i'll put it undercut too. You can probably find japanese raw online but i'm not sure, also you can find part of the interview in newtype magazine 2017 feb
Harukawa: There are also some examples where the manga borrows elements that appear in the anime. The scene where Atsushi and Akutagawa met in chapter 38 of the tenth volume of the manga, at that time, I thought, "Let's use the location of that scene in the anime!" So I drew the shipyard ruins that appeared in the story of Ranpo in the episode 5 of the anime.
Lowkey funny to me that Harukawa went mmmhhh I need Atsushi and Akutagawa to meet somewhere... Let's pick the place where they can parallel the famously lover characters who ended up killing each other
Saw this Asagiri's interview shared on Reddit, and apparently Atsushi is still in the same time period.
『時代は変わっていない』 is the Asagiri quote.
No news of Part 2 yet.
(Polished automatic translation, so if you notice any mistake, please feel free to bring it to my attention. Transcript under the cut.)
Interview with the original authors after the conclusion of Part 1:
The characters in Bunsuto possess supernatural abilities derived from the works of real-life literary figures. Dazai Osamu's No Longer Human nullifies the supernatural abilities of anyone he touches, Akutagawa Ryuunosuke's Rashomon transforms his coat into a black beast to attack, and Nakahara Chuuya's Upon the Tainted Sorrow manipulates the gravity of anything he touches. Nakajima Atsushi's Beast Beneath the Moonlight, which allows him to transform into a white tiger, is taken from The Moon Over the Mountain.
Asagiri-san says, "Originally, we wanted to use cool, charismatic literary figures as an entry point to pique people's interest. On top of that, we wanted to position it within the mainstream of manga, specifically in the context of superpower battle stories." Harukawa-san says, "I thought it was a genuinely interesting idea."
The "literary giants" who appear include Mori Ogai, Edogawa Ranpo, Sakaguchi Ango, Dostoevsky, Fitzgerald, and others... While it features an impressive lineup of authors, it also shines a light on writers who are generally less familiar to the public. This is because Asagiri intended it to be "an opportunity to showcase the appeal of these kinds of writers, showing that there are also people like them." Authors like Tetcho Suehiro, Teruko Okura, and Saigiku Jouno likely became famous all at once thanks to Bunsuto.
While some aspects of the characters are based on the image of real-life literary figures, there are also many differences. Fans who learn about literary figures through Bungo Stray Dogs will likely be surprised to learn about Izumi Kyouka. He is a male author known for works such as The Saint of Mt. Koya and Onna Keizu, but in the story, he is a beautiful girl who acts as the heroine (!). Furthermore, Kyouka's mentor, Ozaki Kouyou, is also portrayed as a woman.
It is well known that the real Dazai greatly admired Akutagawa, but in the story, their relationship is the complete opposite, with Akutagawa being the one intensely devoted to Dazai. In Bunsuto, Dazai and Nakahara, bound by a complex mix of love and hate, have become one of the most popular duos, and this is a successful example of boldly expanding on the anecdotes about the two writers' actual strained relationship.
Asagiri-san says, "It's difficult to decide how much to rely on historical facts. When fictionalizing it, we've taken plenty of precautions." Harukawa-san says, "These are characters, not the literary giants themselves. In the beginning, I avoided making them resemble photographs of the real people, but I did incorporate some famous anecdotes into their characteristics."
Many of the characters' names are derived from famous authors, such as Gin (from "Ogin") for Akutagawa's sister and Naomi (from "Naomi") for Tanizaki Jun'ichiro's sister, and it's fun to investigate these connections.
"As an element related to the image, it enhances the character's appeal," (Asagiri-san)
On the other hand, Sigma, who plays a key role towards the end of Part 1, is unique, as the "original source" of the literary figure is unknown. While some fans are diligently speculating, Asagiri-san confesses that he "deliberately created a unique character from scratch"! However, he also adds that "the fact that we still don't know much about him is part of his charm."
Asagiri-san says that the reason he chose Atsushi Nakajima as the protagonist is "because The Moon Over the Mountain has been included in textbooks for many years." "It's a work that young readers often encounter first, and it has an extremely high capacity to introduce them to literature. Among the eccentric characters of literary giants, I thought he was the perfect vessel to serve as a stand-in for the reader."
In the story, Nakajima, due to his extraordinary abilities, is mistreated and eventually expelled from an orphanage, and continues to search for the meaning of "it's okay for people to live." The creator decided from the initial planning stages of the project that they "wouldn't avoid" literary themes such as "living" and "being human." The idea that "asking questions and getting lost in the process is literature in itself" is reflected in the title, Stray Dogs.
Analyzing the reason for its popularity, Asagiri-san says "I think it's the story, the characters, and the power of Harukawa's artwork." "Now that all the fans who are creating the 'atmosphere' of Bungo Stray Dogs are also contributing to it, I hope we can continue to create it together in the future," he says. Harukawa-san says she "doesn't really feel (the popularity)," but she's encouraged by the fans' enthusiasm, saying "I get a lot of inspiration at events."
It's amazing how Harukawa-san's interpretation of Asagiri-san's original work is almost identical to Asagiri-san's. The mini comic strips on the back of the paperback covers are entirely Harukawa-san's idea. Asagiri-san places complete trust in them, saying, "I supervise it to some extent, but I approve almost everything. They're the one who understands it best," expressing their complete trust in them.
Regarding their pen names, it's often speculated that Asagiri-san's name comes from Franz Kafka and Harukawa-san's from Naoki Sanjugo, but both claim there's "no connection." It's a strange coincidence that these two are both working on works that deal with literary giants.
Part 1 concludes with Nakajima flying to London, England. It might seem as if he's traveled through time and space to the past, but... Asagiri-san clearly states, "The times haven't changed!"
I can't wait to see which literary giant will appear next. I can't wait for Part 2 to begin.

By the way!
You can still join the Yuri Shipping Olympics if you want to! @yuriolympics has a link to their discord here, and you can just pop in directly, join the team you want and start creating!
I'm in Team DCMK and we are still a relatively small but enthusiastic yet chill bunch :} You can come join us if you like DCMK! Don't worry about not being too active!
What do you do?
Honestly, just create a lot of yuri.
It can be fic, art, or other things - i've seen a friendship bracelet be submitted
You get points for your team for creations you submit and more, but it's a very chill competition (at least that's how I've felt it so far). Even if it's chill, you get to create and contribute to a team's result, so there is a nice little boost of team spirit joy there!
Some little perks (from my perspective):
In some rounds called "minirounds", you create pieces based on prompts, and are allowed to create for fandoms outside of your team while still getting points for it! I get stuck in a rut easily, and it has been immensely fun to be able to create for Ace Attorney, RGU, my niche lil books... while knowing that it still contributes to my team <3 If you are like me and have niche little fandoms you want to create for, but need prompting, why not join and create in minirounds?
From what I see, not everyone is submitting full-lineart / colored pieces or longfic. I've seen quite a lot of sketches. I see people using this just to break out of artblock too. If that's you, well, this could be a nice way to get yourself into or back into creating in a low-pressure way.
there's quite a vast array of yuri, so you could potentially discover some new yuri along the way
transfem headcanons are allowed so while it's not actively encouraged, you can yuri beam your ship if that's what you really want to create for. dcmk is lucky to count a huge array of super interesting yuri ships already, but we've also had really cool, beautiful genderbend pieces created
It goes without saying but like everywhere, if you don't like it half-way through you can always hit the bricks. Just leave the server, it's okay! You can play around for a bit if you want and leave when you want out.
Don't feel shy! Come and visit <3

verjodie for @yuriolympics miniround 4 - prompt: "you have to live with it"
Lyra, my beloved cat of 13 years, passed away this year on Father's Day. She's been by my side through very difficult times and was my little rock of steady and unrelenting love. I struggled a lot drawing this, and struggled a lot posting it, but I know I would've wanted to read a comic like this that validated my grief for her when I lost her.
Wherever you are, Lyra my little summer star, I love you always! Thank you for being the best thing in my life.
So I just simultaneously did, and possibly didn't lose my job today :)
Very much did in the sense that I literally do not know where my job is at the moment. But, for the time being I haven't been let go because nobody else including the store owner knows where it is either.
So, I don't wanna risk doxxing myself by posting pictures but goddamn am I tempted because this is not a believable event. This is a cartoon problem. For looneytoons.
But yeah, so, I work(ed?) at a kiosk selling boba tea, right? Freestanding kiosk in the mall with full water and electrical hookups and multiple fridges and sinks and a mini kitchen and the works. Fully functional tea shop. Very important to note that it was there last night, The work chat was discussing another issue last night at closing time. I'll get back to this.
It's been showing signs of being on the way out with how business is being handled lately and I've been considering other options, which is probably why I'm not as torn up about this as I should be, but maybe it just hasn't set in yet, but that's not the point. The point is there's been a lot of shit breaking and not being replaced and nobody mentioning anything about it until I walk into work in the morning and have to figure out why shit like the fucking cash register isn't there today. So I'm kinda used to having to ask questions about big things that nobody bothered to update me on. I was out for two weeks recovering from a surgery, so I came to work this morning assuming there'd be some kind of bullshit, yeah?
So, the question I had to ask the chat this morning was:
Not a text I ever thought I'd have to send in sincerity, but there it is. Because what I found instead was a fenced off patch of discolored tiles and a few holes in the floor where my entire place of employment used to be.
And the answer? Nobody knows! It was there last night when the mall closed, and every single trace of the structure and all its contents including drink making supplies and our safe and cashbox was gone when it opened again. And when I say nobody knows, I mean everyone from last night's closers to the actual (former?) owner of the store jad no fucking clue about this until getting that text from me this morning. For once I am actually the first to know. 🎉.
So. I guess I didn't so much lose my job as had it stolen. Not by AI, but good old fashioned hands-on human beings picking it up and carrying it away somehow. All mall security would tell me was that they were instructed not to tell me anything and have us contact our management. Who also don't know anything. And later on I came across some construction workers around the gravesite of the kiosk discussing filling in the holes, asked them about it, and was told that they "weren't at liberty to say".
So, not only is my job gone in the most literal physical sense of the word, but it was taken in some kind of super secret kiosk extraction in the dead of night without any warning or witnesses and nobody is allowed to speak of it. The store owner said she was gonna figure it out 10 hours ago and still no word back.
I don't know what else to say aside from I've been laughing all day and I'm gonna have a hell of a time explaining Schrodinger's Unemployment to the benefits office.
Update that is not an update because I'm basically certain this isn't what actually happened:
My mother in law thinks the FBI took it.
Not any of the other stores around the state. Just the one little kiosk.
Why? Because she loves a conspiracy and is just a little bit extra.
Also because she was around for the massive crackdown on Yakuza-owned businesses in Waikiki (in her homestate) that did actually involve the FBI seizing stores (no confirmation of making kiosks cleanly disappear in the middle of the night though).
Still no word from my job on what's actually going on, but the most likely theory so far is that maybe the kiosk was on lease and got repossessed? The mystery continues
(also shout out to the person who proposed Carmen Sandiego)
ACTUAL (partial) UPDATE:
According to the owner, based on what she's been able to find out, the kiosk was not removed legally and they're starting a potentially long process of legal action. I hope she gets to sue the shit out of whoever did it but for now at least I know for sure I'm unemployed.
Really hoping for more details in terms of who/why/how, so I'll keep updating if I learn anything.
For now the summary is: An unnamed entity that is most likely mall management (on account of mall security cooperating with them) stole an entire kiosk and all the contents including money and machinery with barely a trace in the middle of the night grinch-style, with zero warning or explanation, and ensured the silence of both security and the construction crew, in an action that was definitely preplanned and illegal, and as far as I know nobody knows its whereabouts.
So now I'm officially out of a job. Because my workplace was literally stolen in the night.
Actually fuck it let's share some photos cause I wouldn't be inclined to believe this myself. It's not like anyone can stalk me at my job now and I'm not gonna have to see any coworkers that might find my tumblr.
Enjoy the unintentionally funniest text I've ever sent in my life

Here you go @a-bit-too-dyscrasic
ppl on ao3 should use the "this work was inspired by" option more. so many fics out there that put links to other fics in the a/n but theres a better option.....
☝️ use this!!!!!!
important addition i forgot that not everyone might know. similar to how ao3 bookmarks work, you can also link to non-ao3 fanworks using this format. so, for instance, if theres some fanart on tumblr that inspired you to write the fic? you can link that fanart to your fic!
