I figure folks I've recently followed/interacted with might like some token of my being an actual person, so here are kelpies drawn by me and my preK kid who is utterly fascinated by them, especially their most gruesome aspects.

I do not need AI to draw a creepy flesh eating water horse. Aa you can see, I perfected my horse art technique by the age of 8 and have refused any impulse to improve since then.

I was on Pinterest for a while and kept seeing all the Tumblr hype and this place is in fact as refreshing as for profit social media in 2026 can be. Which is not to endorse for profit social media in any sense. But people actually write long things, and read them here and I like that. Among other things that I also like.

I have a handful of tags I follow at this point but please don't think these are the limits of my interests/priorities/values. I am open to recommendations and conversation, and to sharing more about myself as needed to create safety for others while maintaining safety for myself and my family.

Hopefully that all sounds sincere and not Fed ish. I'm not sure if feds on Tumblr is a concern.

There's no liberation without child liberation. There's no liberation without decolonization and landback (including Palestine and the US). There's no liberation without dismantling white supremacy. Gender Euphoria for all. Reproductive autonomy for all. I don't surrender to fatalism or the illusory certainty of the Lenski Model. It ain't over til I sing and we don't know what's possible until we do it.

Informed reproductive autonomy for all is non-negotiable. No one should ever be pregnant if they don't want to be. Simple as.

AND, regarding the "informed" part; speaking as someone who has worked closely with a lot of folks with Downs Syndrome, I personally think if the information you're providing to patients about life with Downs Syndrome results in an almost universal decision to abort said fetuses, that information IS tantamount to eugenicist propaganda and it needs to be rewritten.

Based on my direct experience with a lot of different people, Downs Syndrome is not on its own incompatible with good quality of life, personal autonomy, and even significant accomplishment (not that being able to "accomplish" things is a metric of human value). I'll go so far as to say I think the world is a better place with Downs Syndrome in it. I think if people were being presented with a full, accurate understanding of life with Downs Syndrome AND the supports available to people with that dx and their families, that you wouldn't see the near 100% termination rate that you see in some countries. I think it would be more varied.

So the heatwave affecting India right now is insane. For my fellow fahrenheit folks out there, 60°C (the white areas) is 140°F.

Then there is the YouTuber talking about Transformers, casually dropping the "Iraq war aesthetic" like it's a color palette. Desert punk. Military core. A vibe. This is what happens when your country hasn't had a war on its own soil in living memory; the violence becomes media, a backdrop for childhood toys. The explosions are no longer the sound of mothers screaming; they are cool action sequences. They are digesting the visual debris of massacre as a nostalgic fashion choice, scraping the trauma off and compressing it into a genre for their retro-futurist fantasies. The apocalypse becomes a mood board.

And finally, the girl recounting celebrity love triangles from her childhood, flippantly mentioning how the U.S. was "busy with the Iraq war or whatever." Or whatever. That single phrase is the thesis statement of American innocence. Over a million dead, a region destabilized for a century, an endless river of grief; and for her, it was the commercial break between pop culture segments. It didn't raise her rent. It didn't stop her Wi-Fi. The violence is geo-locked to brown skin and distant deserts, just background noise like a refrigerator humming. She has the luxury of forgetting because the machine doesn't eat her children, it eats yours.

If you think "children should not be allowed in this space," you HAVE TO reckon with the fact that you are now excluding parents (and very often women specifically) who don't have access to childcare. You are isolating people who are poor, or rural, or single parents, or any number of other factors that might prevent someone from having on-demand childcare. You are cutting them off from being able to exist in public. You are denying parents and children the ability to fully participate in society.

My mom spent several years only leaving the house to buy groceries or take me to school, and even then, people would still come up to her to complain TO HER FACE about how she shouldn't bring a crying toddler to Walmart. Entitled strangers would literally try and demand that my mom leave and come back without the kids.

"Why can't your husband watch them?" Because he was at work, usually working extreme amounts of overtime so we didn't get evicted, because landlords don't like it when you stop paying rent.

"Why can't you send them to daycare?" Because that costs money.

"Why can't your teenager stay home with them and babysit?" Because I also deserved to be able to leave the house for something other than school, and taking me to the grocery store was how my mom taught me to manage a household budget, shop sales, and meal plan.

"Don't bring your kid in public if you can't CONTROL them and make them stop crying!" Kids cry when they're upset, and being dragged around a store is upsetting! Don't be an asshole! Children are human beings who are still learning how the world works, and they don't have a lot of agency. You'd cry, too.

"Spank them until they learn to stop crying!" That's just straight-up child abuse, Jesus Christ.

Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.

have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.

and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.

black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.

if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.

New tumblr. Since the old one I used as a singular native intro for social media was part of a mass hack as a visibly marginalized social media user. By a yt non native hacker. Had to make a new one from scratch. I wasn’t a big account but still a visibly outspoken and marginalized one. I had a lot of content, writing, art, activism etc there as a disabled and lgbt native of color content creator and multidisciplinary creative. It’s tiring building and rebuilding the bipoc qtipoc and disabled community I had here again. I don’t remember everyone I knew on there is a big part of that problem.
