The term ākinā and how to use it vs. how not to
I know that many - young and old - are using the terms in below said ways. But this mostly is based on misinformation thatās getting spread a lot. Please donāt feel offended with this post. I donāt want to start drama or the like. I just want to clear things up.

What kind of word is the term ākinā?
āKinā is not a verb or an adjective, itās a noun. Itās the short version of āotherkinā. If you say āI do kinā, youāre saying it wrong. If you say:āAre you kin?ā, youāre still saying it wrong. Correctly itād be:āI am an otherkin./I am a ākin./Are you a 'kin?ā
āKinningā and āKinnieāā¦
Furthermore, ākinningā and ākinnieā are two other wrong ways of using this word. Those two originally got brought into the community by trolls who understand therianthropes as ātransspeciesā, therefore they combined ā(other)kinā with the word ātrannieā to form ākinnieā.
And ākinningā is wrong because otherkinity isnāt something you (choose) to do, but itās a state of being. If you want to say that you identify as a lion, then you donāt say:āIām kinning a lion.ā No, as an example you may say:āMy (kin)type is a lion./I identify as a lion.ā

As said, just a little reminder. Thanks for reading it! š
While I fully agree with the majority of this post, I do want to point out and politely disagree that the phrasing of kin as shorthand does work grammatically as āI am ākinā when shortening āI am Otherkinā. As you are right, Otherkin is a noun. A noun that describes a group, not an individual. Itās the reason why Iāll also add calling things ākinsā would be wrong. Since kin is already describing something that is plural and not a singular noun.
āI am a kinā or āare you a kinā just doesnāt sound right and I donāt think Iāve ever heard anyone say it that way.. Rather the phrasing would be āAre you Otherkin?ā, hence the shorthand āare you kin?ā works and is quite normal. So I wouldnāt agree it is wrong to use that way.
Just my two cents! Otherwise fully agreed upon that k*nnie and kinning never were community terms and donāt belong in use. Period.

Hm... but do you say:"I see horse"?
Or would you say:"I see a horse." In these terms that would be:"Are you a kin?"
Or? :/
