I'm probably not the first person to realize this, but like. Asgore's house in Undertale is completely grey save for the yellow flowers, showing how deeply he's fallen into his grief where the only thing that stands out to him now is the flowers. The flowers that represent how he treats his subjects and children like flowers in his garden to be cared for, but also the tragic manner in which he lost his children. His grief, coming from a place of genuine love, propels him to the point it's all he can see.

Conversely, the Flower Castle being vibrant and full of life, but Asgore being unwilling to look at anything other than his conspiracy. The flowers represent something very different: His refusal to let go of something that should've wilted years ago. The flower family was kept alive by his obsession with the past, but each one of them is shown to be deeply damaged by that very same obsession. It's the same feeling, but instead of coming out of a place of regret and love for others, it's coming from a place of rage and self-hatred.

It's the same idea, just twisted on its head.
