​This AO3 skin was inspired by antique books featuring elegant gold foil stamping.

​Truth be told, I am not entirely satisfied with the day mode. It might not be as comfortable for extended reading as some of my past designs. However, I am absolutely in love with this purple and background color combination—it evokes the feeling of writing and sketching with purple ink on old parchment. The purple foiled motifs also carry a slightly mottled texture, as if gently faded by the passage of time. Perhaps I will update the palette if I discover a better match one day?

​I actually began with the night mode and tested several color schemes. I attempted a red, gold, and black palette, but it was a miss. During the process, the contrast felt far too glaring, and the black background was suffocatingly heavy. This purple and gold, on the other hand, reminds me of the beautiful gowns of noble girls in classical oil paintings. I am truly delighted with how it finally came together.

​⚙️ Quick Installation Guide

​The installation process is almost identical to the famous "🌹 𝕸𝖎𝖉𝖓𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝕭𝖑𝖔𝖔𝖒 🌹" skin, but with just one extra step: the base file.

​You will need to create 4 skins in total. First, create the base, the Day skin (Violet Parchment with light mode checked), and the Night skin (Gilded Velvet with dark mode checked). Finally, when creating your Master Auto-Switch Skin, add them as Parent Skins in this exact order:

robby used to be the guy who found purpose in being there for people on the worst days of their lives. he used to find meaning in being the one that helped you say goodbye to your father or your son or your brother.

he used to be the one comforting people in the ambulance bay, telling them to go home, that he can pick up the work load while they recover. they framed that shot the same way they framed the heather/robby confrontation for a reason.

but robby’s not that guy anymore. he doesn’t find fulfillment in this. he doesn’t do this because he likes being there for people, he does this because he feels he has the obligation to.

so when people complain about dennis not having a storyline this season, i don’t find that valid. dennis is showing us the beginning of robby’s story. he’s inserting himself into a family (janey and amy rhyming is so telling), he’s assuming responsibility for a child that isn’t biologically his, he’s falling into a work friendship with a deeply traumatized person (with scars on their leg). dennis’s future is also unfolding before our eyes. the dramatic tension that happens with his character is whether or not he will keep giving these pieces of himself like robby did. the question that dennis (as a dramatic device) poses is was there something that could’ve been done in the beginning to keep robby from becoming this or was it inevitable the whole time?

my first animatic ever, ever, ever, everrr

Don't put the book down when you reach for your phone. Balance it in your lap while you glance at the phone. It can make a real difference in how long you're sucked into the phone and if you're able to get back into reading when you put the distraction machine down!

Consider apps like Forest that gamify putting your phone down.

Read in the bathroom and leave your phone in another room. What? It's a time-honored tradition! Plus diminishes the risk of dropping your phone...

For gaming specifically, I have one game I enjoy but is ad-ridden, and I read during the ad breaks, a paragraph at a time.

Try reading on your phone: I'd found the OpenLibrary interface quite usable and sometimes sink into it the way I sink into AO3 on other days.

Embrace the half-hour-chunk-of-reading lifestyle, if that's where you're at. It adds up!

One of those 'weird but it works for me' options: have several different books to read at once, in different genres/on different topics, switch between them at will based on your interest level.

ALL social media lives only on my phone, and my phone never ever goes into the bedroom.

An old iPad lives in the bedroom and it's ONLY for reading and alarms. No email, no texts, no social media.

I have different accounts on my laptop: one for regular me, one for work me, and one for writing me. They each have apps and notifications blocked depending on the context. (Social media, YouTube, and personal email are blocked on both the work and the writing accounts, for example, and I generally only use the writing account without connecting it to wifi.)

I neglected to send back my last phone (because ADHD) and I sometimes use it as a backup iPad.

If you have an iPhone (presumably you can also do this on Android but I don't know how) you also set different "focuses" (i.e., do not disturb) for different contexts.

for soap, in this righteousness, and in the protection of these innocent people, the threat and execution of violence is the right thing. killing is not the avoidable means to an end, but the objective - as long as the people killed are evil (my job is to kill the enemy. guess what you are). he shows a clear favoritism for vigilante justice (you're going down for what you did / makes me want to commit a few war crimes of my own / you will hang for this) and has to be actively dissuaded from executing people instead of having them face due process on multiple occasions (you can't be serious he is right here / i will blow your brains out i swear i will do it).

and it is soap who decides who is evil and who is not. while he and ghost condemn graves' killing civilians as putting himself above the law (he is jury judge and executioner now) soap justifies the killing of dozens of mexicans without jurisdiction as part of a foreign army due to their cartel involvement (there are no civilians here). he never judges the violence of his own allies, only the lack of it (should have killed him when we had the chance).

soap is a good soldier because he is a righteous and committed man (let's get ourselves a win) but has a tendency towards anger (i will blow your brains out i swear i will do it) and wrath (are you serious he is right fucking there) while ghost is a competent and confident man (choices have consequencea) albeit with a tendency towards pride (pay attention you just might learn something) and arrogance (i have seen better - who? - me).

both of these characteristics could lead to tension within a unit - but they make ghost and soap work together perfectly because they enable each other. soap gets to overkill for ghost (about to play rough with the shadows - i like the sound of that) and ghost shows off for soap (gonna do this one my way, watch - fucking brautiful, sir).

even in moments where they try to reign themselves in, the other makes sure they dont have to - ghost validates soap's anger (it was the right call at the time - at the time.) and soap validates ghost's ego (you want to be better than me - i got my work cut out for me then).
