That was literally just a stereotype perpetuated by some Overwatch Pro-Players who couldn’t be bothered to go after Mercy despite the fact that they are a DPS/Flanker main. It was further perpetuated by Jeff Kaplan during an Overwatch update claiming that was all any Mercy main was, invariably damaging most of us and painting us in a light that simply wasn’t true. No good Mercy player, even most bad Mercy players would sit there waiting for big rezzes when the team was in need of healing, especially when they were the only healer. The only time a Mercy would hide was when they were expecting the enemy team to either wombo-combo or knew that an enemy flanker such as Tracer, Genji, etc had an ult ready with their name on it. The reality is that “hide & rez” Mercy’s were few and far between and never warranted such a huge and radical change to Mercy’s kit to begin with.
