My friend. I love angst. This is my favorite genre. 

I think I would just recommend Jeffmike as a whole, old but excellent.

Sinew, Rage; Humility is the embodiment of “Mike likes Jeff but Jeff loves Mike” (crazy this is something some teammate said and not a line from a Richard Siken poem). It's about them over the years and has the most devastating unrequited longing sadness everything left unsaid, everything remaining unsaid full of ambiguity and internalized homophobia. What is more terrible than a love that is not enough but which fulfills your life? Tears, crying. The same author’s has a fic called Bush League which has the excellent premise of Jeff post career-ending injury is the GM of a terrible team in a terrible league and Mike is desperately playing for this team. Slightly less angsty ending but the journey is just as turbulent. 

In the same Jeffmike vein Am I more than you bargained for is a happy one in Jeffmike terms, but the writing is quietly tragic in a way that makes me so sad. 

golden boy is a Willmack childhood friends au where Mack left to become a pop star and left Will in the dust for years. Good if you have abandonment issues and also there’s a lot of events that affect their personal life which isn’t their romance. #justiceforcharliecelebrini. If you wanna read about Willmack screaming and crying… well… 

Rattling Cages is for if you like reading about Nolan Patrick having a lot of migraines and Travis ignoring him (separation + migraines = Nolan is going through it). 

We are the ones (the ones you left behind) by @iddayidnight is honestly quite tender and funny because of Jack and Dylan’s friendship. But it’s also an interesting take on Dylan’s abandonment by Connor because he hardly shows up, so it’s about Dylan working through it via another relationship.

Also like we've recced this before but seventeen nineteen twenty-eight is objectively like the most angst I've felt in a long time like lying up at the ceiling aching for Dylan Strome to have one uncomplicated thing not haunted by Connor McDavid.
