"It's meant to differentiate between applicants who scored the same" in the Real World they already have a system for that 💗 Say its a Computer Science degree, and they have mathematics, physics, and chemistry questions. If two applicants did the exact same they first check who scored more math, because it is more relevant to the skills required for the degree. Then physics, then chemistry. If all else fails they check who has lower percentage of incorrect answers, which is more merit-based than asking the applicants to perform a little dance.

You learn that it is the better alternative to essays and questioning the applicants personal lives which are used to justify nepotism and ethnic discrimination ^^
