Amazon is texting workers multiple times a day.

Amazon has anti-union posters in the bathrooms.

Amazon managers are using temp workers to advertise “Vote No” on unionizing, knowing they’re leveraging economic power and vulnerability.

Amazon and the city traffic management colluded to change the traffic signals so that drivers have no time to stop and talk to union organizers.

Workers begin voting Monday (2/8/21) on whether or not to unionize. This would be the first union in Amazon.

During one visit, Ruth noticed the nurses would draw straws, afraid to go into one room, its door sealed by a big red bag. She asked why and the nurses told her the patient had AIDS.

On a repeat visit, and seeing the big red bag on the door, Ruth decided to disregard the warnings and sneaked into the room.

In the bed was a skeletal young man, who told Ruth he wanted to see his mother before he died. She left the room and told the nurses, who said, "Honey, his mother’s not coming. He’s been here six weeks. Nobody’s coming!”

Ruth called his mother anyway, who refused to come visit her son, who she described as a "sinner" and already dead to her, and that she wouldn't even claim his body when he died.

“I went back in his room and when I walked in, he said, "Oh, momma. I knew you’d come", and then he lifted his hand. And what was I going to do? So I took his hand. I said, "I’m here, honey. I’m here”, Ruth later recounted.

Ruth pulled a chair to his bedside, talked to him

and held his hand until he died 13 hours later.

After finally finding a funeral home that would his body, and paying for the cremation out of her own savings, Ruth buried his ashes on her family's large plot.

After this first encounter, Ruth cared for other patients. She would take them to appointments, obtain medications, apply for assistance, and even kept supplies of AIDS medications on hand, as some pharmacies would not carry them.

Ruth’s work soon became well known in the city and she received financial assistance from gay bars, "They would twirl up a drag show on Saturday night and here'd come the money. That's how we'd buy medicine, that's how we'd pay rent. If it hadn't been for the drag queens, I don't know what we would have done", Ruth said.

Over the next 30 years, Ruth cared for over 1,000 people and buried more than 40 on her family's plot most of whom were gay men whose families would not claim their ashes.

Stella Liebeck was 79 years old at the time of the incident, and the settlement helped her pay for a live-in nurse as she was partially disabled for two full years after being so badly burned she went into shock. She passed away in 2004 with little to no quality of life per her own daughter. She originally sought $20,000 dollars to cover her eight day hospital stay (including skin graphs) and compensation for her daughter's lost wages after she spent three weeks providing round-the-clock care.

Incidently, liquids served at 190 degrees is capable of causing third degree burns--which cause severe, permanent damage all the way to the muscle layer--within 3 seconds of contact with human skin. If you have a strong stomach, you can even find photographic evidence of her wounds with a quick google search. This didn't stop almost every major news outlet perpetuating MacDonald's coordinated smear campaign against her. MacDonalds' justification for this was basically, well, all fast food is hot and we have better things to worry about. Literally. This deliberately manufactured overly litigious gold digger stereotype is still remembered today via the Stella Awards, which mocks all the "frivolous" lawsuits against your favorite brands. Named after a little old lady who was permanently disfigured and handicapped from a ridiculously dangerous product.

For example, if you see something surrounded by triple parentheses, like (((Albert Einstein))), this is referred to as echoes, as the supposed “echoes of Jewish influence are felt across history”’. It is fundamentally antisemitic, but also on Tumblr you need to take a second look because a bunch of dumbass roleplay blogs use triple parentheses to show they aren’t speaking in character.

Another one are the number dogwhistles, of which there are many. 1488 refers to the 14 words, “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children”, and 88, which refers to the 8th letter of the alphabet H. HH means “Heil Hitler”. Another one is 1350, which refers to “13 percent of the population (black people) commit 50 percent of the crime”, which is a more specifically antiblack dogwhistle, and references to “the 9%”, the Nazi-approved percentage of people in the world who are purportedly white.

Phrases used include “blood and soil”, “Jews (sometimes the ‘Jew’ is replaced with ‘You’) will not replace us”, “happy merchant” (with an image of a hand-wringing Jewish man with a massive nose), “kvetching”, “GTKRWN” (gas the k*kes, race war now), “globalist leaders” (this one can be covered up because many non-antisemitic people are critical of globalism, typically has echoes around it), “Anti-racist is code for anti-white”, “It’s okay to be white”, “The 6 trillion/ the 6 gorillion” (a put-down implying the figure of 6 million jews killed by nazis in WW2 is made up), “White Lives Matter” (and yes I’m fucking looking at “Blue Lives Matter”), and “Diversity = White Genocide”.
