Faybelle and Briar have a VERY messy and complicated relationship that's for sure (so much so they're the first longform character lore video I've currently editing which will go up on patreon first and then to my main channel in like 2 months!) but to put it simply you're right on both marks but it goes a little deeper then that! Faybelle does hold resentment to Briar for never inviting her to anything and keeping her a secret for this "fake" love they had, but she's also projecting her resentment of her mother onto Briar too, feeling like she just as well has failed to care and love for her. On the other hand Briar isn't some heartless monster as she does feel guilt for distancing herself from Faybelle so often, but every time she does get closer to her and start to open up she sees her future, the spindle, a coma, and out of fear of her fate tries to take power in the situation and control her future, but in turn accidentally controlling everything she has to do with Faybelle. They're 2 complicated girls who have to confront one another and their issues, and realise a lot of it is just stemming from their parents and the deals and obligations they left to them, something they can agree to overcome together and start again as "true" friends this time.

That and I thought it'd be fun writing a "good" character getting a reverse character arc where she's slowly slipping and spiralling but none of the other royals seems to notice, and Briar herself rejects any help, where as the "bad" character gets the main character arc becoming more confident and social only to have it ripped away by the crumbling world, and receding a bit by placing blame onto Briar like she's been building up for so long.

Anyways I like to think Jax is just a tryhard at everything when in reality he sucks a&& at it (the harder he brags, the worse he is at that thing). Ragatha finds these things both funny but endearing because for all his pizzazz, he really do be an idiot trying his utmost best to look a certain way just to impress you (and failing miserably at it).
