Cordia - "can we pretend I didn't just say that?"
Cora stared at Lydia in complete shock, unable to move or think of anything to say. Lydia looked at her nervously, before looking down at the ground. “Can we pretend that I didn’t just say that?” She whispered, sounding a little hurt and Cora wanted nothing more than to wrap her arms around the other woman.
Finally, Cora took a step forward and gently placed a hand on Lydia’s arm. “Pretend I never heard it? Lydia, you just said you were in love with me. How am I supposed to forget I ever heard that?”
Lydia sighed and shook her head. “Because you obviously don’t feel the same way, or else you wouldn’t have looked at me like that.”
“I was just surprised,” Cora replied, taking another step closer. “Do you know how long I have been waiting to hear that from you? I’ve been in love with you for years, Lydia. I just thought you only saw me as a friend.” She moved her arms around Lydia’s waist and pulled her close. “So please don’t ask me to pretend you never said that. In fact, I would love to hear you say it again.”
A smile formed on Lydia’s face and she wrapped her arms around the other woman and pressed their lips together in a gentle kiss. “Cora Hale, I’m in love with you.”

Anatomy Lesson || dethan
lol idk what to call this. Based on personal experience dealing with my niece and nephew. Enjoy parenting!dethan. (Also if the Hawaiian terms are wrong, let me know. I looked them up in a dictionary ha)
“That’s a girl skeleton,” Kaiden exclaims, pointing to the skeleton model a girl on the show Little Big Shots is gesturing to. “It doesn’t have a bone down there.”
Ethan sputters, chokes; milk and cereal goes flying from his mouth as he coughs. He keeps coughing, and Kaila reaches over rub her dad’s back, alarmed.
“Makua!” she cries, looking straight at Danny. “Daddy’s dying!” she adds, in only the dramatically innocent way as a three year old can.
Danny himself is trying to refrain from laughing, but he manages to rest his spoon in the bowl in his lap in favor of joining Kaila in patting Ethan’s back. “He’s not dying, kaikamahine,” he assures softly, pauses the show before turning back to his son.
Kaiden looks alarmed as well. Danny gives him a smile, pats his leg with his other hand. “It’s not your fault.” Danny has to bite the inside of his cheek to keep his composure. “Your… knowledge sharing just… surprised us, is all.”
Ethan has stopped coughing, but has dissolved into a shaking mess of stifled giggling. Danny chances a glance at Kaila, confusion and worry all over her face, wondering how they had gotten here so soon. But Kaiden was going on 7, with Kaila gaining steadily on 5. This conversation was bound to happen, Danny just thought it’d be under different circumstances, not to mention with a supportive husband that didn’t turn into an immature boy when he needed him.
He gives Ethan a nudge to the ribs via his elbow for good measure.
“No matter what gender, we call have the same skeleton. Your penis,” Danny starts because he’s a proper father and taught his kids the proper terminology and now, in the face of this conversation, he almost regrets that decision. Better to just get it over with, like ripping off a bandaid. He can feel his face getting flushed. “Does not have a… bone in it, keikikāne.”
Ethan utters something that sounds suspiciously like, “Not yet at least.” To which Danny digs his elbow in more, causing Ethan to yelp softly. It effectively sobers him up, point to Danny.
“Yeah, Kaids. It’s soft and limp, like a hot dog.”
Kaila makes a face and sets her cereal down. It’s Danny’s turn to cough, this time dislodging himself from the couch and announcing, “I’m getting more cereal. Kaila, want to help?” The question is barely out of his mouth before Kaila is running headlong into him and they both retreat, leaving Ethan alone with his son to answer questions as he should be.
Unfortunately, his retreat comes back to haunt him later on in the week when he’s disturbed from his work to the cry of “Kaiden kicked me in the nuts!” courtesy of his daughter Kaila, a statement he thought he’d never hear, followed by the sound of Ethan’s laughter.
“That is all you.”
Danny has a fleeting thought of why in the world he had children before turning around to his daughter’s dark, clever eyes and pulls her on his lap to explain, making a mental note to scold Kaiden for teaching her this terminology (which was probably Uncle Aiden’s or Stiles’ fault).
malia/whoever you wish for the music shuffle
(so Malia is agender (ze/zir/zirself) Scott is a demiboy (they/them/their), and stiles is transmasculine)
get up, come on, you make my heart raceyou are the one that keeps the pace i needi say we got to live our lives, yeah, with no speed limitif you want somebody and need somebody to love, there’s no limit- Speed Limit by Boyce Avenue
Malia’s fingers tapped along to the beat as music blared through the speakers of Stiles’ Jeep, only to be snatched up by the wind as it whipped through the open windows. The vehicle hummed and shook with every mile ze gained down the open road. Zir hair flew free behind zir as ze sang along to the music.
Ze glanced at the rear view mirror and smiled as ze took in the sight of Stiles and Scott, tangled up and sprawled across the length of the back seat. A shirtless Scott had their head resting on the door, an arm curled over their eyes and facing the backrest. Stiles characteristically had managed to spread his body in odd angles. He currently had his head resting halfway on Scott’s propped up leg, his neck in an unnatural angle and despite the drool, he still looked really cute.
Malia turned back towards the road with a happy sigh and a beaming smile. The sky was blue and the sun was shining; the perfect day for a day at the beach with zir two favorite people.
It took three more songs for the trio to arrive at the beach house that the Moon Pack had decided to purchase together, complete with a private stretch of beach. It made the trio, in particular, feel safe and free to be able to express their true selves.
Ze parked in the drive of the two-story, six bedroom, 5 bath house, a loud chime ringing from the back seat through the now quiet air. Ze flung zir door open to round the Jeep in favor of opening the hatch and snatching up the smallest duffle on the very top. Ze then rounded the Jeep to Stiles’ side, flinging the door open.
“Stiles, hey,” ze called softly, shaking his arm with a little force. He slept so deeply sometimes it took a few tries. Ze touched Stiles’ pocket, found nothing, and then glanced to the floor to find the source of the chiming. Ze reached for it, leaning on Stiles in zir effort, and swiped it to turn it off.
“Stiles,” ze called, louder, and Scott wriggled their body at the sound.
“Git up,” they mumbled into the cracked leather seat and lifted their hips to further shake the sleeping boy. “Did we stop for his shots?”
“No, just perfect timing,” ze answered.
“Your turn.” They lifted their hips again to no avail.
When ze shook Stiles and continued to get no response, ze decided it was time for drastic measures. Ze climbed into the backseat and sat gently on Stiles, reaching under his shirt just below the binder to tickle his belly.
This definitely created a response.
Stiles flinched his body away from Malia’s fingers, turning his face and hit Scott’s elbow. He yelped in surprise, reaching up to rub his eye. “What I miss?”
“Shots,” Malia and Scott said in unison. “Git oof meh,” Scott grumbled, voice muffled by the seat as they turned their face to press into the leather further, but nonetheless they dragged their body up to rest back against the Jeep door, knees to their chest.
Malia lifted zir body to allow Stiles to sit up and slide his butt more towards Scott. Without looking Scott reached their hand out to take Stiles’, lacing their fingers together and squeezed once as Stiles leaned back on their knees. When Malia was seated again ze handed Stiles the duffle to let him get his hormones ready.
Stiles let go of Scott’s hand in favor of unzipping the bag and produced hand sanitizer, a medical syringe, and a vial of liquid. After applying the sanitizer, his hands shook as he pushed the syringe into the vial and tipped it upside down to get the correct dose, taking a few tries as he steadied his hands the best he could.
Malia and Scott, both, have offered numerous times to do this for him but he insisted every time that he do it. They don’t blame him, but they both feel their stomach twist while watching him struggle to do it himself.
Stiles hated needles. Always had, his dad had told them. The fear increased after seeing his mother getting poked and prodded every day and then now, when they were an important part of his livelihood, he sometimes joked about how cruel fate was. That he was born with the wrong body chemistry and the best option for his sanity was using something he feared. Malia and Scott compensate for the twisted feeling by taking on the actual injection process themselves.
When the vial was prepped and ready, Malia grabbed the alcohol pad and the hand sanitizer Stiles passed to zir. Ze applied the sanitizer as Stiles draped his thigh over zir lap, his hand gripping Scott’s, and cleaned Stiles’ thigh. Ze accepted the syringe from Stiles’ outstretched hand and gave his knee a squeeze.
“Inhale, poke, and you’re done for a month,” ze said softly and after receiving a nod from Stiles, taking a deep breath with him, ze injected the clear liquid into his thigh.
Stiles whimpered in pain, but as Malia glanced over ze could see the stripes of black shooting up Scott’s arm and Stiles settled more into them.
Malia moved closer to Stiles and Scott in the cramped backseat that was definitely not built for three. Ze rubbed Stiles’ non-poked thigh gently, draping zirself over Stiles in a comforting embrace. Ze felt Scott’s fingers brush zir hair as they rubbed Stiles’ arms.
They stayed like that for a while, Malia pressing kisses around the injection site and Scott pressing kisses to Stiles’ forehead. They stayed until Stiles sighed, wriggling his body between them.
“Let’s go swim. Skin to skin,” he said with a grin and that was it. It was over, back to life as usual. Stiles was good at that.
Scott laughed, turning a bright grin towards their companions. “Race ya!” they announced, opened the door and untangled themself from them. They caught themself before they fell backwards. “I’m gonna win, I’m down to one article of clothing.”
“Oh no you don’t,” ze cried, flinging off his shirt and ungracefully slipping out of his shorts and the backseat all on one go, all before Malia could even move. “It was my genius idea!”
By the time Malia had crawled out of the car and shut up all the doors, and ran after them, Scott was jumping bare assed into the surf with Stiles not far behind, slipping his binder off to jump after them.
Malia shook her head as ze ran. They all had their own challenges to deal with, but at the end of it all they could just be together — ze wouldn’t have it any other way.
Especially the naked part.

Dethan
(this is also for @baeahu belated birthday present!!)
i’d like to know your policy when it comes to melike to know what’s in your mind, it’s not easy to seei know now what i feel and what to doi wanna be with you- i wanna be with you by backstreet boys
Ethan pulled his beanie down over his ears, hunching his face down in his coat. He was careful to leave his eyes uncovered in order to be able to look out at the playground he was standing in.
“Go down the slide, not up it, Elijah!” he yelled at a Kindergartener as he tried to walk up the slide. “Elijah, I said down!” he yelled again, and then the kid finally listened.
A puff of white burst from his lips as he sighed. It was way too cold to be out there. If he, a twenty-five year old man, was freezing his ass off, he couldn’t imagine how the five- and six-year-olds could stand it. Granted, they were running around and he was standing still in the whipping wind, but still. The administration should’ve called indoor recess, regardless.
He fished out his phone with a gloved hand and sighed again. Twelve minutes to go before he had to blow the whistle and pray his lips did not get frozen to the metal. Call him paranoid, but it was that cold out there (in his head; in reality it was only twenty-one degrees Fahrenheit with the wind chill — just above the cut off for being outside).
As he was putting his phone back in his pocket, he was barreled into from behind, followed by a very familiar high-pitched giggle. Ethan beamed as he felt tiny arms wrap around his waist. “Who’s there?”
“Guess!” drifted up from behind him, muffled by his coat as a face pressed into his back.
“Are you… Amelia?”
“No, Mr. Ethan!”
“Hmm… Naveah?”
Another giggle. “No!”
“Oh, I know!” He grabbed behind him to tickle the girl. “Kaila? My most favorite student, but shh, you didn’t hear that from me.” His voice dipped in volume, a stage whisper just for her. His heart warmed at her answering giggle.
“Yes, it’s me!” She released her grip on him in favor of running around to his front and hugging him properly. He squeezed her briefly back.
“I knew it all along,” he teased. He crouched down to her level, noticing her boot was untied — again. “Are you staying out of trouble?”
It’s this part of the job he loved — despite the cold; the bad attitude, difficult kids; and the less than organized administration — being able to ask the little ones how their days were and connect with them, even for a moment, was priceless. He liked his special place as an adult that wasn’t a teacher or administrator, someone that the kids could come talk to if they wanted to without fear of being brushed off for something else.
That’s where Kaila came in. She was a firecracker for her age in a way that wasn’t the typical disrespectful attitude. She was very smart for her age, short and skinny and had to wear glasses. She constantly had her recess taken away for not particularly paying attention in class, which Ethan had come to the conclusion (after little things she’d let slip in conversation — the brutal honesty of the young) she got bored easily when it came to things that didn’t interest her. But she had a mouth on her when she wanted to.
“Yes, I am,” she said proudly with a nod. Ethan straightened up to his full height, satisfied both of her boots were properly tied. She was one of those kids that no matter what, it seemed her shoes were always untied.
“Kaila,” came a voice from behind them. Ethan’s breath caught in his throat. He also knew that voice very well, it starred in many of his very inappropriate dreams. “How many times do I have to tell you to stop bothering your recess supervisor?”
Ethan turned around as Kaila screeched “Daddy!” and ran into the man’s arms. Ethan had to school his features — he was at work with children around, for God’s sake. On instinct, he eyed the man’s visitor pass, which hung off his waist, just visible through his open coat, giving Ethan the oh so convenient excuse to sweep his eyes over the man’s beautifully tailored suit pants, that subtly accentuated his—
His daughter is in his arms, pervert.
Ethan’s eyes snapped back up to the man’s face and he wanted to drown in his dimples as he vaguely heard Kaila tell her father that she was just about to tell Mr. Ethan that he was coming to see her today.
Kaila was also his favorite student because her father was the best looking man Ethan had ever seen. It was also a major perk of his job.
The sight of him warmed Ethan, and that was a major feat in this weather.
The sound of Kaila’s voice broke Ethan out of his thoughts. “I wasn’t bo’dering him, Daddy. Rwight, Mr. Ethan?”
“Uh… oh, yes.” He fixed his face with a quick grin, shoved his hands in his pockets and bounced on his toes. “She’s no bother at all. In fact—,” Ethan paused and took a step closer to the man. He dropped his voice to a stage whisper. “Her smile is the highlight of my day, but shhh, you didn’t hear that from me.”
The man—Mr. Mahealani, Ethan should start addressing him as such—pulled his lips back and let out a hearty laugh that made Ethan’s stomach flip. “Well, I'm…” he trailed off, glanced at his daughter. He ran a gloved hand through her long hair. “Sweetie, why don’t you go play. I’m sure you don’t want to listen to us talk.”
Kaila’s lips curved downwards for a split second before she was grinning again. Ethan swore it was directed more so at him, but it was too fast to be sure. She bounced in place, nodding. “'Kay, Daddy!” And then she was off, racing towards the slides.
“Be good!” Mr. Mahealani called after her before sighing. He turned back to Ethan and his brown eyes made the goosebumps rise on Ethan’s skin. “As I was saying,” he began and then his eyes turned to follow Kaila. Ethan’s heart filled as he took in the utter adoration and love shining in the man’s eyes for his daughter. “I’m good to hear she’s doing well. And she's… not a headache for you. She can be…” He trailed off, his lips quirking to the left as he grappled for the right word.
Ethan laughed softly. “In the best way possible, do you mean a handful? Too smart for her own good sometimes?”
Mr. Mahealani’s gaze fell back on Ethan and he seemed to assess him. He was smiling though, so Ethan assumed it wasn’t negative. “You’d be right. See… I’m a single father. And while I love her to the end of time and could never, ever picture my life without her… she wasn’t in the cards for me. I… slept with a woman and 10 months later I have Kaila on my porch. So… I’m just hoping I’m doing right by her.” He shook his head, his eyes turning back to find Kaila. He gave a tiny laugh. “And I can’t believe I just told you that.”
Ethan is overwhelmed with emotions he can’t even begin to name. But he’s surprised, for sure, that this man — this parent — found him, Ethan the recess supervisor, worthy enough to let on this information. “Well, I can assure you that you’re doing a great job. I wasn’t kidding when I said her smile lights up my day. She’s just a joy; great kid. She always listens to me and I haven’t seen her hurt a kid at all, which is a feat with this group.”
Ethan beamed over at Mr. Mahealani and was relieved to see the man’s shoulders sag a little, letting out the tension and making Ethan want to give him a should rub.
Goddammit stop.
“That is so great to hear. Thank you,” Mr. Mahealani.
“Well I can see why,” Ethan said, reaching out before he could stop himself to touch Mr. Mahealani’s should to give it a pat. “She has you to look up to.” He dropped his hand quickly as his brain caught up to his actions and hoped he didn’t overstep. This conversation had taken an intimate turn. He kept smiling, probably his dopey smile as his twin had dubbed it, to try to soothe over the possibly awkwardness of the action (though, to Ethan it felt a natural thing to do).
“Thank you, Ethan.” Mr. Mahealani’s voice was soft, and so were his eyes and smile and Ethan had to stop himself from leaning in to kiss him. He’d surely be fired for that, right? But the way he said Ethan’s name, and the prospect of him saying it again in a breathy tone was almost enough to say fuck it, I’m out.
“I’m Danny.”
“Wait, huh?” Ethan ripped his gaze up that he hadn’t realized were glued to Mr. Mahealani’s — Danny’s — lips.
Danny’s eyes glinted in amusement. “I never introduced myself. I know you’re Ethan, but I’m sure you only know me as Kaila’s dad or Mr. Mahealani.”
“Oh. Right. Nice to meet you, Danny,” Ethan said lamely and he almost jumped out of his skin when his phone alarm went off. He was disappointed to be going inside to pick up the next group.
“I have to…” he picked up his whistle like he was making a toast with a glass and then, after taking a few steps back from Danny, blew it to join in with the other two whistles blaring through the air. He yelled “Line up!” before stepping back towards Danny.
Danny grabbed his arm to get his attention. “Hey, so, I know this is really forward and not the time at all — I mean you’re working and I don’t know if y’know— but I was wondering if you’d like to go out sometime?” His right dimple was so pronounced when he pursed his lips like hat and Ethan swooned.
“God, yes,” he answered and then cleared his throat. That sounded desperate, nice going. “I mean yes, I’d love to.” Ethan’s chapped lips cracked with the force of his smile.
Danny’s shoulders sagged again and he looked relieved. “Great! That’s great. Uh, call me. My number is in Kaila’s file. I’m sure you can get it. Because I’m sure you have to go and— here’s comes Kaila. Hi sweetie!” Danny’s voice was rushed and excited and he let out an “oof!” as Kaila barreled into him with full force.
“Oh, I’m, yeah. Yeah, I can do that.” Ethan nodded dumbly.
“Okay, great.” He flickered his gaze to Kaila and then back to Ethan with a imperceptible shake of the head. Ethan understood. Kaila was not to know about this and Ethan winked. “See you soon, Mr. Ethan. Kaila say bye.”
Kaila let go of Danny in favor of launching herself at Ethan. Ethan crouched to her level and squeezed her. “Bye, Mr. Ethan! See you tomorrow!”
“Bye, Kaila. I hope you and Mr. Mahealani have a good lunch.” He met Danny’s eyes over Kaila’s shoulder. “See you tomorrow.”
Danny gave him a thumbs up and then grabbed at Kaila. “C’mon, sweetie, let’s go. Mr. Ethan has a job to do.”
“'Kay, Daddy,” she said a little sadly as she let Ethan go in favor of taking her father’s hand. She started to drag her father off, waving, and Danny shared a huge smile and a wave as the two walked up the stairs.
“What was that about?” Malia questioned knowingly from behind him, stopping at his side.
“You’re practically drooling,” Cora deadpanned, but her eyes sparkled with amusement. “It’s pathetic, to be honest.”
“Pinch me, I’m dreaming.” Ethan yelped when they both pinched him, hard. “Okay, rude. I meant figuratively.” He sighed. “But it doesn’t matter because I have a date and nothing can ruin this day for me.” Ethan actually bounced on his feet and spin around, arms open wide.
He could almost hear the girls roll their eyes as they groaned. “About time, Price, but you do remember you’re hear to work and make sure the kids done kill each other, right?” Cora grabbed his arm and started to math him inside to pick up the first graders.
“Or themselves,” Malia added, taking up Ethan’s other side with her arms.
Ethan whined, “Just let me have this moment of bliss please.”
“Moment over, time to work,” said the always gracious Cora.
“You’re so mean to me, both of you.”
“Oh, by the way, you can’t leave us here alone, so don’t get your ass fired.” That was Malia, hissing in Ethan’s ear.
“Fine, okay. I won’t. Now let me go, I can walk on my own.” They let him go, but Ethan glimpsed Danny sitting by Kaila in the lunch room and he giggled with a small wave to the annoyance of Cora and he had to be ripped away to lead his class out.
But his mind was occupied for the rest of the day, much to Cora’s ire and Malia’s amusement. Ethan managed to pull off stealing Danny’s number under the pretense that Ethan had an issue he’d like to make a phone call to a parent and then hours later after talking to Danny, finally had his official date with the best looking man he’d ever met.
Bonfire + dethan
Danny wrapped his arms tighter around around Ethan and watched over the man’s shoulder at the crackling fire in front of them. He was slightly buzzed from the beer Aiden and Jackson had brought to bonfire. It was a chilly fall night, but he didn’t feel the cold as he stood so close to Ethan and the fire.
Ethan took a sip from his own beer and handing it off to Danny for a drink. Danny shook his head. “I’m good.”
“More for me then!” Ethan said and downed the rest of the bottle. “Thank God I don’t have to work tomorrow. I don’t think we’re making it back home tonight.”
Danny shook his head. “Good thing Cora and Lydia have spare rooms.” He hugged Ethan tighter and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “I heard Scott say something about bringing marshmallows, you want a s’more?”
Ethan nodded. “Yes, please.”
Danny gave Ethan another kiss before wandering off to find Scott. “Scott! Is it time for s’mores yet?”
“It can be!” Scott said, gently pushing a sleeping Stiles off his shoulder. Malia quickly took his place as he stood up, letting Stiles drop over her lap. “I left everything inside, I’ll be back.”
Danny wandered back over to Ethan who was now sitting down in the grass with a water bottle in hand. “Oh, good idea. Hey Cora, throw me a water bottle!” Cora reached into the cooler and tossed him one and he caught it. “Don’t want a headache tomorrow.” He leaned against Ethan and gave a soft sigh. “We need to make more time for stuff like this.”
“The end of the semester is coming up,” Ethan said, wrapping an arm around Danny’s waist. “I was thinking that maybe you and I could take a small vacation?”
“What kind of vacation?”
“I was thinking of taking you up to your parents’ cabin? Just you and me?” Ethan said, looking a little nervous. “Or we could invite the others. I already asked your parents and they said they were okay with it, but we don’t have to.”
Danny smiled and pulled Ethan in for a kiss. “I would love that, Ethan. Just you and me.”
Ethan smiled back. “Great! I just need to take the time off, I wanted to ask you before I did it though. Just in case you didn’t want to.”
“How could I say no to you?” Danny said. “I love you.”
Ethan kissed him. “I love you too.”
