“Onwards! Onwards!“ the Captain shouts
“To the unknown, deep inside!
Whatever evil there may hide,
Can't break a dountless sailor, stout“
So sails the ship in darkest night
Through roary wave and stormy tide
Out of the warmly saving bay
Into the mist of a new day
“Bravery! Bravery!“ the Captain's shout
“Stand firm against the raging sea!“
As the mainmast cracks aloud
“we sail to England or infinity!“
Heeve and hove sounds from the deck
As every sailor pulls the ropes so wet
As every muscle, every sinew snaps
And starboard rises watery black
“Saint Brandon of the mighty sea“
Prays the boatswain's aching breath
“The winds are yours and so are we
Spare us from the coming death“
Alone above this uttered labor
And mournfull looking weary eyes
Stands the Captain with blank sabor
Like a backbone 'gainst demise
“Let go all the topsails!
They're not of use on stranger course
And it's not speed nor is it any
That will save us - no remorse!“
As the sails abscond by flying
The thought of drowning grows beguiling
A crown' nest's sailor takes a leap
Absconds by flying to the deep
Just adrift, without a guide
The ship tips slowly to it's side
The Captain begs the winds to dry
But the sea does not abide
“All hands on deck!“ the captain's final bark
As a rogue wave rolls astern
“With this I send to you my heart
The rest, my love, is for the sharks“
