Françoise Hardy, 1960s
Françoise Hardy by Angelo Frontoni, 1965
What are your inspirations for tuxedo cat and wonder bug? Curious cause the premise reminds of card captor Sakura or Inuyasha where they're hunting down all the magical items!
I was absolutely inspired by Card Captor Sakura & Inuyasha! Inuyasha was the first manga I fell in love with, and now that you mention it the battle between Su-Han & Kujaku is definitely inspired by the shattering of the Shikon jewel.
I’m also inspired by other magical girl anime & manga: Sailor Moon of course, Madoka Magica, Tokyo Mew Mew & definitely Saint Tail, for the tailcoat costume especially. Shoujo classics like Revolutionary Girl Utena & Rose of Versailles need to be mentioned here as well, also Studio Ghibli films & GAINAX anime (Aim For the Top! Gunbuster & Diebuster) some classic space operas (Galaxy Express 999 & Captain Harlock) & The Big O. Western cartoons I’m influenced by (besides MLB) include Steven Universe & Batman: The Animated Series (1992). Berserk is ine of my favorite manga, so Kentaro Miura’s artistic influence is present, & I adore the 1984 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic series.
Other inspirations, specifically for Tuxedo Cat’s aesthetic, include V from V for Vendetta, Mr. Mistoffelees from Cats, Yves Saint Laurent's Le Smoking fashion, Marlene Dietrich in Morocco (1930) & Anne Lister (as played by Suranne Jones in Gentleman Jack)
