Realistically you do not visit your kids in college because 1, they’re grown and can make choices for themselves, and 99% of the time they do not have the ability to visit with hardly anyone due to classes and studying, hell, half the time it can take until Christmas for them to have time for anything?? Some colleges don’t even have weekends off. And two, most college dorms have a STRICT no visitor policy!

Lou also sent constant letters to his son as a means of communication, and was likely severely busy himself with working to continue paying the rent/ mortgage on their home/apartment.

Shit gets busy, life gets busy. People’s schedules don’t always line up.

Lou never demanded anything of Cole. Literally 0. He likely sent Cole to Oppenheimer due to it being staffed with people Lou trusted to help his son if something went bad, & it was likely a 0 expense option because he had connections. He wanted Cole happy, and honestly, Cole maybe thought he has to appease his father due to dance and song being all they both had left after Lilly died, they likely bonded over it, Cole showed interest and somewhere along the way a miscommunication happened and Lou ASSUMED that’s what Cole wanted to do, and Cole, not wanting to disappoint his father probably agreed.

Half of adults start college/etc with a major and then end up not actually wanting to do that.

Not to mention Lou apparently never told Cole about Lilly’s past as an elemental? That shit is mad dangerous with possible injury around every turn, of course Lou was shocked by Cole’s reveal during the true potential arc??? He probably knew feck all about how elements worked or transferred, and assumed that Cole wouldn’t fall into that life.

It’s also heavily implied that Cole never fully processed the grief and trauma of his mother’s death & that Lou was also grieving at the same time, thus emotionally absent for his son & likely working overtime to keep Cole fed & a roof over their head, so he turned to rock climbing and pushing his limits as a coping mechanism, which most likely fed into his fear of failure thats mentioned in the books.

No where in the true potential arc does Lou forbid Cole from being a ninja, if anything, he immediately accepts it & is ultimately glad that he and Cole survived whatever bullshit Pythor was trying to pull.

He even sees Cole off at the dock before they leave for the dark island, are you kidding me? If he didn’t support his son and was this shitty abusive snot the fandom paints him to be, he would’ve left the moment Cole said he was a ninja & never showed up to the docks.

Even in the house it was LOUD.  Probably the loudest thing I have ever experienced but at a normal, predictable interval.  You would begin to time your sentences with little pauses with the rest of the lighthouse crew so you would talk like this while making your………..HORN…………. tea and then carry on talking because you knew when it would go off.  It rattled the walls and the dishes in our cabinet.

At least one girl had died there. They kept photos of her everywhere “in honor of her sacrifice” because she had decided to take the winter watch alone and died in a storm where bounders the size of mini vans had been lifted out of the ocean and left scattered across the island, to say nothing of the ice chunks.  People weren’t allowed to be alone on the watch after that.

One day a dead moose washed up on shore and it took my entire crew all day but we managed to rig up a line to hang it up to dry because we thought having a moose skeleton in the house would really spice the living room up a bit.  It did.  Weird shit happens when six of you are left alone, like ALONE ALONE, no cell reception, no wifi, just a radio to contact the real world and not a lot of reason to do that.  People don’t go on lighthouse jobs if they want to stay connected, I’ve found.
