Internet Freedom: Good News and Bad News

The Bad: the Senate committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation voted unanimously to send S 1748 (their version of the Kids Online Safety Act) to the full Senate chamber for a future floor vote

The Good: the same committee failed to move the online age verification bill S 737 (their version of the SCREEN act) out of committee due to not getting enough votes to reach quorum

Also, friendly reminder that the Senate is starting a 5 week recess this Friday. Be sure to use every day of it to call, email, text, and write letters to your senators telling them to oppose S 1748 in the future floor vote. If you can, try to attend their town halls. We killed this bill before, and we can do it again!

I think you mean "Never", @gorillageek27 , but I'll play along.

Might be premature to say, since I've only read the first book, but HOMESTUCK never gripped me because, well, the art style just didn't work for me and everything just felt so... stagnant, from the characters to the story to even the overly convoluted power system. Every panel felt just felt like a variant image of the same drawing. I dunno, maybe it picks up later, or maybe it's just better online. Either way, I don't really care for Homestuck.

Well considering I've never seen Homestuck or MHA (besides watching a few episodes of it) and it's fandom is garbage. I'm not one to judge.

I never wanna watch dragon ball, the only piece of dragon ball I've seen was GT and while I enjoyed it I just find most of the cannon installments to be... Meh.

I used to be in the Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss fandoms, but I tapped out after the 1st season and 6th episode, respectively. The reason I left those fandoms and refuse to engage in them anymore is that their fandoms are toxic AF. Seriously, their fandoms are so bad that the RWBY fandom looks saintly by comparison.

Before that, the phrase was created by the KKK in the 1920’s as both its official slogan, and as a racist dogwhistle that discriminated against African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Jewish Americans. They also created the phrase “Christ is King” and its variations as an anti-Semitic dogwhistle that was used to discriminate against Jews that refused to convert to Christianity. If you use either phrase, then you’re basically admitting to being a racist, a white supremacist, and an anti-Semite.

“There’s no reasonable way to make a good ‘tournament’ layout with specifically 26 entries!”

“Who do you think we are? People who don’t define themselves by hatred of anything that isn’t exactly what we want it to be? It’s gonna be 26 entries and you’ll like it, mainly because you like anything that makes you feel good about being a loser over a cartooon!”

A thread about Arryn's experience discussed a podcast where Miles looked terrible, said that he prayed he'd fall asleep while driving so that he'd crash and get to spend several days in a hospital bed, and he was drinking "crunch juice" (later revealed to be moonshine) the entire stream. This was around the time Volume 5 came out.

... Just to be certain, I tried checking Arryn's twitter. I don't see a thread.

Holy shit. Between this and someone else’s story- RWBY’s likely been made from crunch since the beginning.
