The two begin as fast friends, but they know full well what it seems like when they stay together somewhere and... well, there's only one bed.

The new lovers go through trials, withstanding being hurt due to events, but they would both sooner die than not give comfort.

They daydream together. Both of them share being decisive in what they want, and as a result they quickly end up putting together a fantasy of domestic bliss.

Of course there's smut. Please know where you are, lol If something arises both just expect the other to just fix it. This is mainly because both think the other would want them to just fix it (and this is a lie, both of the other would leap at the chance to be needed when it's them.)

As things progress, both end up at the point where they would prefer to reincarnate than to live without them. It's a concerning rejection of the fact that life is a story with multiple chapters, but it's how they truly feel...

There's a road trip along the line at some point. The two had never felt like they were really cemented to one another, in comparison to how going the length and breadth of their country was like. At some point the subject of how they will arrange their marriage comes up - or whether or not they even will do the whole ceremony and pageantry with the dresses.

This romance continues. They do not manage to settle down, travelling as a merchant family. One time in the middle between being young and being old, they become isolated together. Maybe a volcano erupting wiped out

When next time we hear of them, one of them despondently remarks that to think just a short while ago, they were deciding what process they would use to figure out whether or not they have good neighbours. If ever they settle down...

Agreement that there's a magic to the world that civilization is not able to offer leads to the two of them struggling to overcome. It's not even coping. At a point, one of them wonders what the other would look like if their gender was bent, the times were that insane for them.

To quote a certain rock hybrid, "there's no such thing as love at first sight". As heartbreaking as that statement is, it is unfortunately very true. Relationships take work, time, and effort. It is a slowburn... just make sure you ACTUALLY cook while you're doing it, instead of just randomly cranking the heat between "cute moment".

Y'know, I had about a half a paragraph of writing some big spield about how I don't like either when I realized, "Wait a minute! I actually like this one!" And it circles back a core tenant of romance that I read somewhere I don't remember; "The conflict for romance should be the reason they aren't together." In this regard, I buy "we're only doing this for the clicks way" way less than I buy "if we don't kiss we'll die, but society says no". I've tried dating in secret, personally, and it was a dumb idea because, to quote Dr. Killinger, "love is not meant to be secret; it is to be shared with the world". But yeah, give us that conflict; explain to us why you two can't be together in public!

On this one, I gotta blame a certain show because they fumbled the writing of "best friends to lovers" so bad that it hurts to even think about. Best friends would never harm each other like that- Best friends should NEVER harm each other like that! Ah, but perhaps love can shine the way for a villain instead? Mayhaps it is one against the world and the only person on their side is the one person who sees the good in them, despite all the awful things they've done! Yes, yes, perbe an enemy could become a lover~?

"There's only one bed" feels like the whole "friends to lovers" and "pretend dating" tropes; like an umbrella with which this trope falls under. So, no, I don't care for the conflict of "there's only one bed" because there are at least half a dozen solutions to this "problem". Meanwhile, there is a LITERAL gap between these two and there's no way to resolve this now! Ah, but love finds a way, does it now? So, whether you're calling from Seattle or trapped in Hell (no difference, really), just remember that there's a light at the end of your call, and they're the only thing keeping you going. (and so help me if you twist this into some NTR level shit then I will send a Nuke Traveling Rapidly right into your dirty, dirty lap!)

I'm not sure, to be honest. Like, now that I think about it, I can't remember a "hurt/comfort" story I liked, though I've seen quite a few "amnesia" stories that could have been better. Still, I'd say "falling in love all over again" sends a nice message about "true love conquering all". Though I'm hesitant to think of when this fails... When the person you've loved your entire life and who love your for just as long chooses someone else.

I pretty much like ALL AUs because, well, as the name implies, it's an "Alternate Universe". What if My Hero was a medieval fantasy? What if Guts from Berserk ran a cat cafe? Let's see things in a new light from a different perspective. Is Ganondorf going to ruin the high school theater production? Do you think Reigen can balance being a father and an interstellar starship captain? Flip the script! Have fun! WRITE AUS.

Given the choice between watching two people not dating giving excuses on why they're not dating when they definitely want to be dating and two adults explain how they met and fell in love and decided to go into business together, I'm gonna choose the two who actually have a story to tell. Yes, I know I just gave a whole tangent about romance needing conflict fitting of "why can't they be together now", but two people tiptoeing around the issue when they so want to be together is just... annoying. Now, when you have this old couple explaining how they met by taking the wrong bus to the wrong place; it's fun... because the danger is over. They're together now and they're happy, and to be honest, the piners should be looking to these two and finding inspiration to take that first leap.

Cuddling or "snuggling"? That is the question. Whether 'tis nobler to give in to one's desires and throw oneself upon the other in passion or to not let suffer the slings of forced conflict and to enjoy the company of other? Ah, but why not both, I would say, for one can enjoy spice and sweet without concern of spoiling one's appetite for good character interaction.

I have seen your "fix it" offer and I offer in return "but he lived" au in return. You can't FIX someone else's bad writing decision. Believe me, I've tried. Instead, find the workarounds to make your own story. Yes, she did make the right decision, and yes, the dog did survive the encounter. We can have a happy ending. No more deaths. No more killings. And you can be so loyal to the characters that it's BETTER. But nothing gets fixed. It's too late. What's done is done. Now press the button, reader. It's the only way.

IN ANOTHER WORLD, I still get killed because the narrative demands it. Now, this is especially tricky, because the situation is like the amnesia trope that we discussed... five paragraphs ago. You're basically resetting everything. You're starting over. The characters are the same, but you're somebody else. Actually, it sounds a lot like DnD. You made another character sheet. However, it should not detract from the grim reality- This person is dead. Maybe it was by their own design, or maybe the universe proved too chaotic to avoid. Perhaps here, death has no meaning, or maybe the narrative did demand it? It can be so needlessly tragic... but at the very least, it's honest.

Now, this is coming from the guy who writes mostly one-shots... I NEED THE STORY TO CONTINUE. What happens next?! Where do we go from here? Why did it all end in a church? Keep the story going! Don't just end it on "Will you marry me?" WE NEED MORE! THE PEOPLE DEMAND MORE! I WANT MORE! ...So, yeah. I prefer something with more than one chapter.

Why are you the way that you are? Was it something in your childhood? Well, why don't you tell us about that? I want intricate details about how your encounter with a stray dog changed your entire world view into becoming the adult you are today. Or you can tell us about your summer road trip and everything you saw. That could be cool, too. Oh, but what about the guy you road trip'd with? What's his story?

You come to me and you offer two choices. "The One in Las Vegas" from F.R.I.E.N.D.S. or "The Two Nahasapeemapetilons" from The Simpsons. One features a drunken one-night stand that escalates into a regrettable third divorce for series protagonist Ross Gellar while the other is an intricate tale that dates back to Apu's childhood and culminates in a grand and exquisite display of colors that ends with Manjula simply stating, "I mean, we could always get a divorce". Between the two, and considering what I've written, I think it's pretty clear I like the latter over the former simply because there's such needless drama in "drunken marriage" when it could be easily resolved with a little effort at the legal office. Meanwhile, the other one has history, conflict of man vs society and perhaps even vs self woven into a potential slowburn that cranks up the heat as the wedding day drifts closer and closer! And yeah, both could end in divorce, but at least there's so kind of love to be found in one over the other. The only thing increased in the other is how many laws were broken to get this marriage to happen, and that's less intrigue and more disturbing reality.

Teenagers are stupid. I've seen some marriages work out, but most of the time, couples grow up and realize that there's more to life than their sweetheart. Meanwhile, someone older and wiser meets someone and they learn to start over and share a life they'd already lived with a person they only just met. And I think that's just beautiful. And really, "it's never too late" sounds way better than "it's never too early".

I... don't really have anything to say about this one. Time travel is tricky as it is, and to be honest, I've only heard of "The Time Traveler's Wife", and I still find Futurama's "start all over" finale way more compelling than that movie I just forgot about. But being trapped together, forced to learn about the other and adapt to overcome the inherent obstacle that you are now placed in? Yeah, I think I wanna read that one just a little more than wibbly-wobbly-timey-wimey nonsense... and no, I haven't put much effort into Doctor Who to know where exactly he says that.

With roommates, the hard part's over. You already know how the other person lives. Honestly, the only hard part now is what you're turning the other person's bedroom into now that you've gone from living together to living together. With a neighbor, there's the space to explore. You know WHERE they live, but not HOW they live. Give us a glimpse into their high maintenance/sloppy home, sweet home. Much like before, adaptation is needed, so can they change themselves enough to overcome? Will it work out? The tension is... Well, it's not really all there, but there's still enough to really call it tension.

I smell another cheap rom-com... or a Rob Schneider movie. Yeah, I'm gonna give it to the genderbent trope because at least the person is still themselves. Body swapping is literally taking over somebody else's life, and that... That's honestly too weird for me, man. It's too early in the week for a Freaky Friday.

I've got enough self-loathing in my head. I don't need to be reminded how awful the world is. However, maybe a chaotic reminder that a walrus COULD appear on my front lawn is just what I need to get my day started.

It's nice to take a breather and see how things are on the other side. That's why I would rather EVERYTHING GOING WRONG over being bored to tears by a 10,000-word chapter about literally nothing! There's no conflict when everything is going right, but that also means there's nothing interesting happening on when it's all going right! Throw a pie, make a face- DO SOMETHING! I don't a grim reality that my life sucks! Show me how much worse it could get!

And this brings us to the final word; tragedy or comedy; "We did it~!" against "It's all gone..."; happy ending or sad ending. I've seen a fair share of both, and yeah, a happy ending can get boring. But it's still an ending worth seeing. Ruby dies in the final battle because she couldn't stop Salem. Cinder murders Ren in front of Nora because she's evil. Jaune gets turned into a Grimm off-screen, unable to fulfill his promise to Pyrrha and his friends and is now forced to live a nightmare of hunting them down. These are not how I want the story to end. Because a story where the hero always loses, or where the villain gets away with it, or where everything you were taught growing up like justice and kindness and being happy with who you are mean absolutely nothing isn't fun. It's real. And nobody wants to live in that reality. So, yeah, give me the happy ending, because at least that's something to look forward to.
