i love bad fanfiction actually. everyone needs to write it more. some of the worst written stuff from a technical perspective is the most earnest, moving, or hottest stuff I’ve read. there’s the same amount of thought and detail, just with poor technique. And people who write bad fanfiction eventually do write good fanfiction bc they keep at it and keep improving.

also honestly i feel like the best way to stop people from turning to AI is to praise their effort even when it’s “bad.” Being good isn’t the point. Telling a story is. If we make people feel like the only stories worth telling are ones written with great technique, they will likely never bother trying, just plug it in somewhere.
