okay i have to post this because i love it so much, but at this point, i don't know when i am gonna finish it. it's a conversation between spencer and angela from my midsummer/fae au about their respective crushes:

Spencer stared at the piece of parchment in his hand, as if the message held a secret he needed to decode.
"I mean—" Angela began, shoving a few blueberries into her mouth, "I think it's pretty straightforward, Spence. He wants to spend time with you."
Spencer rolled his eyes. "I get that, Ange. But why?"
It was Angela's turn to roll her eyes. "I don't know Spence, maybe because you're friends or something? Why is that such a weird concept to you? I mean, I'm your friend. Trevor is your friend. You have friends."
She shoved a bunch of blueberries into Spencer's other hand. "Eat some berries and quit overthinking it."
"Quit overthinking, huh? Sure, wouldn't want to dethrone the Queen of Overthinking herself."
Angela's eyes snapped to meet Spencer's and she glared. Spencer smiled, an innocent look on his face as he popped a blueberry into his mouth.
"I don't know what you're talking about, and I won't respond to it," Angela muttered, picking another handful of berries and tossing them into her basket.
Spencer hummed. "Except for the part where you just did."
"I hope you go to that courtyard tonight and Trevor stands you up, idiot." Angela stayed turned away from him, suddenly very interested in collecting as many blueberries as possible.
Spencer furrowed his brow. "Yeah? Well, I hope Amanda doesn't want all these blueberries you're picking just for her."
Angela spun around. "Hey. No. Don't you dare."
"Oh, so teasing me about Trevor is fine, but I can't tease you about Amanda?"
Angela sighed. "Fine. Truce?"
Spencer put Trevor's note in his pocket and took Angela's basket from her, linking his arm through hers. "Truce. I hope Amanda's thrilled with what you're doing for her."
Angela patted Spencer's arm, her fingers stained purple. "And I hope you have a nice date with Trevor."
Spencer frowned. "It's not a date."
Angela stared at him, raising an eyebrow but saying nothing.
