This post is a huge PSA for anyone writing X Reader content
You may not think this post applies to you, but it does.
There is a massive issue with inclusivity and assuming the audience. I have seen and personally experienced, time and time again, that me and many others feel as if we have no place in fandom. This specific part of it has to do with the majority of "x reader" content out there. It is all written for a cisgender (mostly heterosexual) white woman audience.
Now, cis white women getting content made for them is OBVIOUSLY not the issue here. People write for their personal interests, and there is nothing wrong with that. We all know this, and we all enjoy a fun story with our favorite characters centering around us.
The main issue here is the mentioned women not tagging their content properly, refusing to tag their content properly, straight up lying in the tags or not tagging things at all.
Trans men, nonbinary people, trans women, gay men, disabled people, fat people, intersex people and many people of color or non-american readers are constantly left out of fandom space and forgotten entirely. I've seen hundreds of complaints about it, and it needs to be spoken about more. While I'm on specifically talking about the fanfiction part of it, it is a VISIBLE issue in every fandom space you could possibly partake in. I don't even need to explain to you the rampant racism and transphobia in the cosplay community.
And the fix is extremely easy! TAG YOUR THINGS PROPERLY. It is the easiest, simplest form of allyship one could do for the community, and it goes miles. However, a lot of you seem to not understand how to, even if your heart is in the right place.
How to tag your fanfiction for the general audience:
- Specify the gender of the reader. This goes MUCH farther than just what pronouns are used. I've read WAY too many fanfics that tell me it is gender neutral, only to be hit with nicknames like "princess", or to be told the intended reader loves dresses and wears a bra.
- In tags or a prior description, mention every nickname used for the reader and every possibly gendered descriptor. It's really not difficult, and doesn't take too long.
- If necessary, mention what style of clothes the reader is specified to wear. And if this applies as well, specify any highlighted personality traits you gave the reader.
- Specify the body of the reader. This also goes much farther than gender. "Afab" and "amab" don't exactly cut it. Many people are triggered by certain words connected to genitals, so specify what words are used for those as well! Also, if you are trying to write a gender neutral body, PLEASE specify whether it is entirely gender neutral or something is implied. Many say it is gender neutral, and then explain how the reader's body self lubricates, or even has a clitoris. Please do better than that.
- For the love of God, do not automatically feminize the "GN afab" reader you wrote without a warning, and PLEASE MENTION if breasts are even spoken of, let alone used for smut reasons. And do NOT refer to someone's body as having "fem" or "male" genitalia. just say vagina or penis, please.
- Specify what body type you had in mind. Many fat or even slightly chubby individuals need to look for fanfiction that specifically caters to them, because "neutral body reader" writers, tend to not make it neutral. If you have any specifics on whatever you have written for the body mentioned, do tag it!
- Specify what sort of skin tone or hair texture is mentioned, if at all. Many POC complain that they read neutral fiction just to find straight hair, pale skin, light eyes, and blushing faces to be mentioned. If any color of the body is mentioned at all, or anything is implied, do say so! This also can go for specific things you may not think about, like how long it takes hair to dry, how easy it is to brush, hairstyles and other things of the sort.
It may seem like a bit of a list, but this is really the LEAST you can do for your community. We are consistently forgotten and ignored anywhere we go, and the simple things like this truly mean a lot.
- If there is an implied location, or anything to imply a place of origin, it's best to be on the safe side and mention that if it feels important.
- Please tag if you put the reader through, or mention a past traumatic event. Casually putting the reader character through things like an abusive ex, abusive parents, bad home or work life, or something like a car accident can be highly triggering. tag your scenes thoroughly! This also applies to putting the reader insert through something like sexist comments, unwanted touching of any kind, and similarly negative situations.
I cannot tell you the amount of times I've turned to fanfiction as an outlet and an escape, as many others have, just to be jumpscared by my favorite characters misgendering me. It's truly a miserable experience knowing no place is actually welcoming to me, or in the very least accommodating for people who aren't like them. This post is NOT meant to shame or send harassment to those who are forgetful, but ignorance is never a good thing to uphold. No one is asking you to write for an audience you don't want to, we just want to KNOW who you are writing for. Assuming an entire space is all one demographic is never, ever a good thing.
If you need help writing for a demographic you don't fully understand, just ask people who are a part of it how they would! Look at how other writers write and tag their content, and listen to anyone if they have necessary critiques. I wish you all happy writing! :]

Quick question before I allow myself to hyperfixate on this guy enough to write a story, am I missing something? I mean... We all know Telemachus is an adult right? Why do people treat him like he's a child? Like I know he's a really sweet character and pretty tenderhearted but he's not a teenager. He's at least 20 something. That's a grown man. Why does every person I come across not believe me when I say this? Then I get accused of being "gross". He's literally an adult!! He's not a damn kid!! Am I missing a memo that he's a kid now? I’ve been in the Epic fandom long enough to know how exhausting it is to be a Telemachus fan. For most, a majority of the fandom has this weird obsession with infantilizing a grown man. I agree wholeheartedly with this post that Telemachus is a more optimistic kinda guy but that’s still an adult.
This sounds pretty controversial but how it seems like to me personally, peeps like to fetishize a man who is shown to not fit the standard narrative of a dominant male and this is very much the case with Telemachus (you get my vision?)

Help, please, I'm dying! 🤣 In one of the Demon Slayer light novel "Kimetsu Academy" chapters, it's mentioned that they once did a school-wide survey to find out who everyone's favorite teachers were. Rengoku Kyōjurō was voted the most popular teacher in the school (because of course), but just look at what some of the survey participants said (direct quotes):

— You adore your Noivern. Really, you peck it's head and hug it's neck everyday. And your Noivern just sucks all of that affection up, it doesn't matter if you're oblivious to the effects you had displayed upon your big bat, the big bat enjoys your affections too.
— Always after a battle, you would pet your Noivern and tell it a “good job!”, you seem to enjoy the prospect of praising your ‘mon.
— The Noivern gets a bit overwhelmed with your affections sometimes, but overall, it doesn't mind. As I've said, it really enjoys it.
— The Noivern has started to pick up on your habits as well. What, didn't think the big bat would copy you too? For everytime you pat it's head, it’ll raise its claw to pat on your head too. (It kinda hurts but it's not like you care anyway.)
— It returns your face rubs too. For everytime you’ll nuzzle your big bat, it’ll give it back in return. You're essentially turning a large boom blasting pokémon into an affectionate, clingy bug.
— It's like a big child, when one thinks about it enough. It gaggles and makes noises when you shower it in affection, its noises are so nonsensical yet they're filled with something akin to childlike excitement.
— Because of how much you shower your Noivern in affection, it has now tried to sleep with you on the same bed every night. Clearly it doesn't work. It's too big, but it doesn’t believe it's big itself either.
— Every morning, this giant creature expects to be pecked or at least hugged every morning. If it doesn't get one, it will try to beg you for one by nudging you or gaggling out of its mouth. It can get a tad bit desperate.
— At the end of the day, you adore this giant creature and said giant creature adores you back. Just don't mind it when it randomly tries to bite your head out of cuteness aggression.

All the bs happening to forsaken is entirely the fault of the fandom btw. Its obvious whoever is making those documents about soul and the other ppl from the team is just desperately trying to give the game a bad reputation. They take EVERYTHING out of context bro, like.... eugh.
Also stop giving attention to the weirdos in the fandom(including the proshippers/rage baiters. Stop sharing their content around for shock value, don't even post it to show yourself fixing their art.). Don't interact with toxic people in game. Just report them and change servers if you need to. Stop giving platforms to people creating unnecessary drama.
And the biggest thing I think this fandom should start doing is FOCUSING ON THE GOOD THINGS!!! Yes there are many people who keep complaining about the game (that they are actively choosing to play btw), yes there are some bad apples (which is unfortunately unavoidable), yes there is drama (but the drama has already been cleared up and explained MULTIPLE TIMES) BUT you know what else is there?

Although toki pulled all their characters from forsaken, there's still a chance they might continue their story seperately in their own projects!!! (Awesome news for azure/ringmaster/rook fans tbh)
Even though the updates are paused we still did get different updates for a lot of characters and their abilities. (Check the dev log) (also we got temporary buff for John Doe today!!! Cuz yknow..march 18)
Despite all the drama and hardship the devs are facing they are CHOOSING to continue to work on the game. (Idk if i could handle all of that if I was in their place, the devs are pretty awesome ngl...)
Yes, some people left the team, but you can still follow up on other works they might be doing. They exist outside of forsaken. (And who isn't to say new people won't join the team in the future? Keep ur heads up guys, dont let the weirdos hating on forsaken bring down ur mood lol)
Even though a lot of skins were removed from the game, I'm not really sad about it. Because some skins were what introduced me to new media and they are sooo peak omg, idc if the skins get removed im just happy to discover peak... and you should be happy too bcz the fandoms are growing!! Which means more fan art. Yum.
And ngl, since azure is removed im kinda excited to see how two time's new lore will develop in the future. I'm just happy to play the game man. We should all be more grateful and just...idk...be more jolly tbh...
It's not often that I get VEEERY interested in something, and trust me when I do get interested in things I literally lose my mind over it. And forsaken just happened to be one of the rare things I got way too obsessed with, LOL. So, when things go not so according to plan, I just try to go with the flow and be thankful that the devs even decided to make a game...they literally said money wasn't their goal, soul lets other ppl make merch for the game and lets them sell it, like...this game is just nice dude. Let's all give the ppl on the forsaken team their credit where it's due.
This is not the time for negativity, it's the time to stick togerher as a community and build a safe space for all of us. (The devs are still human, you know! Be nicer.)
(Also, in no way shape or form am i trying to encourage toxic positivity. Let yourselves be sad and dont try to be like 'oh nahh it will be okay!!' Because its normal to be sad about all the current news. Just dont let it consume you and dont take it out on others)
Also before I forget, if you dont interact with the bad side of the fandom you wont be seeing that type of content. I personally haven't ran into that many toxic people because i choose to step back and be happy, LOL. Just find your people, I promise you can do it. If you can't find your people, then just create that community yourself :)
The game isnt going to be cancelled or anything by the way, this was announced in the dc. Don't worry you guys...overthinking isn't good for you. I'm not saying this to be mean, but please touch grass. Like actually. Going outside makes me realize things arent as deep as they seem. Taking a short walk will seriously make u feel so much better, trust me. Take care of yourself first, then you can worry about a game.

Galleous has no trouble talking about it in front of you. "I've had my fair shares with human encounters but you seem to be... much shorter" He'll sometimes intentionally put things on higher shelves so he can see you struggle. Remember that one time when all your supplies were suspiciously put on the highest shelf? It was done by the hands of your husband. He just prefers to see your reaction, he's old and tired. Nothing wrong with getting a little entertainment from the teasing, no?

The amount of times he's caught you leaning to grasp whatever you need, is too much to count. "Sweetie, have you seen my swor- what are you doing-?" You have to embarrassly explain, and you can't go without earning a chuckle from him. "Don't worry, I'll get it for you" placing a kiss on your forehead(He has to crouch to do that) as he helps you.

GIVE ME THAT MAN. If you need to be assisted, Achillean is right there for you like a loyal dog. Dawg if you want to be crazy then you can use him as a stepping tool, he's ain't complaining considering he was given the taller genes. He finds it absolutely adorable on the obvious height differences. On a long walk to a neighboring town, your feet were getting sore and weak. Which leads you to this awkward moment. Complain once about you being too tired to walk any much longer, and find yourself being carried in bridal style by an unbothered Achillean. "My love don't worry, your problems are all safe with me" (You totally didn't get any weird stares- hahhahha...)

At first when he met you, he had to leen his head down to look at your face. He's one of the few who didn't really bother with a short s/o, all he views is his beautiful darling. Despite this, he thought he could make it easier for you by doing simple acts that don't take a lot of thought. Simply kneeling down to your eye level, fetching your supplies on a shelf taller than you are, or carrying you firmly in his arms so you could see the northern lights better(I headcannon that he takes his s/o to see the Northern lights as a date spot)

NOW HEAR ME OUT, he brings out the short jokes, you can't convince me. You could be out of breath and nearly on the verge of collapsing after running for so long , and he would bring one of them short jokes out of the blue. He's not mean, he'll apologize the next second later if you genuinely get irritated.

Unlike his former friend(idk or brother), he is not into the idea of being used like a platform just so you can do whatever. Listen he's very helpful with anything that is considered a problem for you with your shortness but he's the Deathsinger. It'll look weird for Ardonia's most feared figure to have someone on his back using him to their liking.

Either he doesn't give a flip or he's hella cocky about it. He won't and wouldn't crouch or kneel at eye level for you since he has too much of an ego. You are never safe from him making it obvious on the gaping difference in height tho. He can be walking in front of you and doesn't care that you're struggling to catch up. It gets so bad that you have to sprint if you want to catch up to him, and by the time you do, he'll ignore you and still not slow down. But you are his s/o, his lover, the one motivation he strives to still fight for. If you two are alone, he might be willing to do some sweet things for you. Example, is something too high to get? He will grab it without asking and hand it over to you without saying anything. He may actually be a sweetheart behind closed door. "What? Can't handle walking a few miles? You pathetic little thing"
