I live in the US and one of the things that really reframed the way I think about animals was when someone I knew in Brazil posted a picture of a marmoset hanging out outside their window and I realized that monkeys were to them what squirrels are to me. Recently a friend in Hungary sent a picture they took at the zoo of a raccoon and it was like my worldview was being shifted all over again because what was to me the mildly annoying, somewhat cute, critter that makes weird noises behind my house at night was a wonder to someone else. They have little hands and bandit masks. They wash their little hands. How is that NOT a wonder? All animals are cool I’m just used to raccoons.

The earth is full of beautiful, unique flora and fauna. How lucky we are to be a part of that.

this is meant positively by the way. sometimes you love the character so much you end up putting a piece of yourself in it to learn how it is to love yourself without realising and thats ok.

hi trans people i hope you get to live. i hope you get to laugh so fucking loud and revel in how the wind blows through your hair and i hope you get to dress the way you like and i hope you get complimented on it. i hope you get to kiss someone or hug someone or hold hands with someone or be told how wonderful you are. i hope you get to dance to weird music and i hope you go swimming with no concerns other than how much sunscreen to put on and i hope you sing bad karaoke with your friends. i hope a kid spots you from across the road and realizes they don't have to live one way forever. i hope we all live

trans people i hope you get to eat some really good food and gasp at the animals and insects you see every day i hope you pick up a new hobby and it turns out to be pretty fun i hope you try on that coat and it makes you feel confident. i hope you get to tell people your name and i hope they tell you how cool it is i hope you get to rest i hope you watch a movie and fall over laughing. i hope you rejoice in living because you deserve to be alive and you deserve to have a joyous life

i think completely pre transition trans people should be able to wear one tiny little pronoun pin and get gendered correctly every time. i think cis people should be transitioning just for the fun of it if they want to. i think you should be able to walk into any pharmacy and just buy hrt. i think that little boys should be able to sit in circles and play with dolls and paint each other's nails and make friendship bracelets. i think that little girls should be able to play with flaming monster trucks and play football and get competitive over video games. i think that arson (he/it/paw) should have paw's identity respected and treated as completely normal. i think that we should normalize neopronouns and weird genders and being weird or unusual in general. you should be able to explain your weird one of a kind xenogender to the least queer person on the planet and they should say "oh that's cool!! haven't heard of that gender before". you should be able to wear a tail in public you should be able to make out with your computer if you want i don't fucking care. i love transgenders i love neurodivergent people i love furries i love everyone outside the norm i love freaks i love nerds i love everyone.

keep thinking about how I wrote in my dissertation about how every time a new form of public/social space emerges it's immediately popular with kids and teenagers who see it as a chance at freedom and then adults colonise it and kick them out. this happened with malls in the 80s and diners in the 50s and pool halls in the 20s. my dad was doing research on this trend in like 1975. and I was like "yeah so this is going to happen to the internet" and then five years later every government suddenly decided to ban kids from everywhere online. I hate being right especially when I don't even get paid for it
