I remember when Blake Edwards said that at the Oscars (it was during the LotR era), and I was like “Damn, that is true love. As is fitting, because Julie Andrews is the flipping best.”

I think that one of the things that bugs me about series with 8-episode seasons released years apart is that you can never get something with really dense lore. Like Star Trek or Doctor Who or even Buffy where there's just a hell of a lot of it and you can just kind of...be obsessed with it, beyond the "buzz" that comes about for a few weeks every two years or whatever.

Okay, but I'm thinking about the Deep Space Nine episode "Tacking Into the Wind", and one of the reasons why that episode hits so hard is because it pays off two story arcs that had been percolating across ten years and hundreds of episodes of TNG and DS9, namely the Cardassian occupation of Bajor and Worf's involvement in Klingon politics; and you just can't get that kind of incredible scope in television storytelling anymore.
