Iβve been thinking about this for a while, and I have a genuine question on you all!
Are there any ItaKugi (Yuji Itadori Γ Nobara Kugisaki) fans out there on Tumblr? π
Iβve always had a soft spot for them. I know a lot of people interpret their relationship as platonic and honestly, I completely understand why. Theyβre incredibly close friends, they trust each other, they share one of the healthiest maleβfemale friendships in Jujutsu Kaisen and itβs refreshing to see a bond that isnβt written as overtly romantic.
At the same timeβ¦ I canβt help but see how well they could work as a couple in an alternate setting.π₯Ή
Theyβre both chaotic, loud, stubborn, endlessly supportive and just silly. They match each otherβs energy so naturally. They tease each other, make each other laugh and always seem comfortable being themselves around one another. To me, they have the kind of chemistry that could easily become a cute friends-to-lovers relationship without changing who they are.
I know this isnβt one of the biggest ships in the fandom. Compared to pairings like ItaFushi, Gojo/Geto, or Nobamaki, ItaKugi is definitely a rarepair. That might be why I struggle to find much content for them, especially on Tumblr. There is some fan art and fanfiction out there (especially if you search tags like #itakugi, #yujixnobara, or even Japanese tags), but itβs surprisingly scarce.
And honestly? Thatβs part of why Iβm considering writing for them.
Iβve been imagining a short fluffy college AU where Yuji and Nobara are justβ¦ themselves. Two chaotic best friends who accidentally become inseparable, constantly roast each other, share late-night convenience store runs, pull ridiculous pranks, help each other through exams and slowly realize their feelings along the way. Think cozy, funny, low-drama, friends-to-lovers vibes.
Iβm not trying to convince anyone that they have to be romantic. I love their canon friendship too. I just think theyβre one of those pairs that can be interpreted in multiple ways, and I enjoy exploring the βwhat if?β in fanfiction.
So are there any fellow ItaKugi fans here? Would anyone actually read a fluffy college AU about them? Or do you have any ItaKugi headcanons youβd like to share?
