I generally throw Desmond in Gotham BUT it's time Bludhaven gets a chance to host Desmond 🥳
Desmond traversing this different New York enjoys mugging red figures and finding the owners of the stolen goods. There have been a few times he's had to use his blade on bloody figures but honestly, that was the only way to stop them so he calls it adding by subtracting (saving people by taking out serial killers in the making). That's what gets him on Nightwing's radar.
Nightwing seeing this squatter go out and do good instead of more bad feels validating, like just maybe Bludhaven can get better since more people are trying. So naturally he tries to help and when he see's Desmond s first victim he takes a more active role because he need guidance. Nightwing wouldn't be here without Batman's guidance and the universe is all but screaming at him to help this guy before he goes down a path he can't come back from.
Desmond with his parkour courtesy of assassin training and the Animus bleeds is also the 2nd most acrobatic person he knows. Desmond starts free climbing buildings just to startled him when he calls out to Nightwing from a shadowy rooftop without the assistance of a grapple gun.
Fast forward to them being good friends (even though Desmond refuses to be his official sidekick with a mask and costume). Something big happens in Gotham requiring all hands on deck and then some. Desmond naturally goes and that's where he meets Red Hood. The two get along very well and Dick recognizes that tone of voice.
Dick: you can't date my friend.
Jason: Then you shouldn't have dated all of mine.
Dick : Is this why you are trying to date Desmond? Not cool little wing!
Jason: Desmond's hot and I'm hot so why not?
Desmond: Very hot, I can't tell if I want to throw you around or want you to throw me around.
Jason: Want to count this as our first date and go back to my place?
Desmond: What's faster, your bike or the grapple gun?
Jason: My grapple gun but something tells me you're a handful.
Desmond: Bike it is and then I'll get to ride-
Dick: I forbid this, all of this!

Dick: That's not Shakespeare, whatever you are quoting doesn't apply here.
Desmond: Smooth, now get in me befor-
Dick: Desmond don't get on that motorcycle!
The two are so gone for each other lol and whenever Dick tries to complain about Jason stealing his friend everyone is quick to remind him of the times he did the same thing.
