the one thing i hate about the pre 2022 period of sns tumblr is how much people were up in arms about top/bottom preferences, you expressed that you wanted to see strict top sasuke and strict bottom naruto and it was all “who cares about sex dynamics blah blah enjoy the ship for the ship they would switch anyway blah blah” as if it isn’t literally yaoi 101 that t/b preferences INFLUENCES how the characters are interpreted even in sfw situations, it’s not merely just sexual dynamics in a ship.
anyway, because of that, a lot of the older content on here is just that strict as hell mindset where everything is switch and your preference has to be on the dl lest you be labeled as a raging sex obsessed fujo.
but now obviously that hasn’t been the case for years. you can be as loud as you want about having a strict bottom and top preference without getting tomatoes thrown. however now all the newer content we have of ‘sns’ (i use that term loosely now, there is no sns because everything is ns centric, no matter how much people claim that they’re switches) is just n/arusasu. what i really hate is that when the era of sasunaru was actually flourishing, that older mindset existed in much of the popular content, and i wish we could flourish in this newer age where admitting you only prefer one dynamic of the ship and see it as the default isn’t taboo.
on the other hand, i think people were actually a lot more rigid in tagging before than now. i liked that you actually could get people irritated at you for tagging some art or fic that isn’t the correct dynamic at all. but omg now here we are in this supposedly woke world where people get upset at YOU for getting upset that you’re seeing jumpscare n/arusasu fanart or meta analysis that is so obviously bottom sasuke biased in the SASUNARU tag. not even a hint of sasunaru and you’re tagging it as that. just so annoying
