Different anon but regarding the same post about modern sns fics, it's so frustrating!!! They cover every single issue and possible situation that can happen in the usa but never anything related to the original story or the influence modern japanese lifestyle has on it and the characters!!! Just write your generic coming of age ya novel and stop overprotecting, please 😭

we werent talking about modern AU sns fics, we were talking about sns fics written in the current modern era (i'd say beyond 2020 vs. fics written before that time)

regarding modern aus though, while i do understand your frustration, we have to keep in mind that the majority of (western) sns writers are most likely from the us, and it makes sense that they write modern stories in a setting they're familiar with. have you tried reading translated fics though? there are quite a few on ao3.

How do you imagine NaruSasu in like the end of the world protecting each other, or

something else. Because I can literally see, Sasuke picking Naruto up in either a bridal style way, or over his shoulders; like if it was a tsunami, or something they needed to get away from quickly. You know what I mean? ^^ XD

Hi! I have to say, I'm personally not a huge fan of the "briday style carrying" trope (it's just a little cliché to me, you know?) plus I know for a fact Naruto would NOT stand for it, no matter how badly Sasuke might want to, hahaha.

That said though! We know from pre-shippuden and the War Arc that Sasuke has a tendency to be very protective of Naruto, sometimes even excessively so. Sasuke would absolutely worry about Naruto's safety FAR BEFORE he'd ever even consider his own. His one and only comes first :)

Same anon but I'm a bit shy: glad to hear that it's not only me! I'd realized that I felt super restless and unfulfilled when I read anything new, and as soon as I went back to older works, I saw this major difference in how they approached the characters. It feels like a "why would I bother to read this sns story when it's clear no one actually cared"-situation. Someone should definitely call Sasuke lol

don't get me wrong, there are newer works out there that are really really good for sure but unfortunately there is a lot of slop out there these days as well

Regarding your latest post, I kind of avoid most of the modern sns works nowadays because, wow, so many of them really just want content while using sns as the representation for it. It's even worse when the creator has no idea about their personalities (which seems to happen often???) ... and then there are those who didn't even bother watching or reading the series at all but just rely on secondhand information, interpretations, and tropes. :/

genuinely, how delusional do you have to be to believe your opinion on source material holds any value when you have *never* even interacted with said material yourself??

and so much modern stuff out there just reduces sasuke and naruto to certain tropes (that, majority of the time, do not even fit them) it's ridiculous!! sasuke and naruto are multifaceted characters, but by the way a large chunk of the modern fandom treats them you'd never know.

it's a damn shame.
