Wow! So I watched the season finale and as always, I probably shouldn’t pay much attention to what the fandom is saying because I really liked it. This episode and the whole season felt more like a character study than a plot-driven story, which is quite ballsy from the writers’ point of view. I appreciated it because I haven’t seen anything like it in a while. Very experimental, very theatrical.
I am a total Lescel (people use this term derogatorily but do I ever care about that stuff lol) and this season made me love him even more. I hope that one day, if I ever “dream” that everyone I ever loved tells me I am a failure, that I can also proclaim with all the swag I possess: “Well, I think I was pretty fucking great!”. I’m glad Armand was finally portrayed as someone who is dangerous and genuinely disturbed and not just as some poor little meow-meow who ends up doing terrible things but is somehow never responsible for them. I read complaints that Louis was needlessly tortured this season, but he started off in a very good place: a hot new boyfriend and lots of money. Stuff happened, but Louis is tough. I will cheer if he’s the one who gouges Armand’s eye out. Or if Lestat does! Anyway, it is so sick and twisted that Armand felt Louis had to apologize to him. The irony! As for DM, I don’t care about DM so I have no opinion either way. This season finale definitely got me curious about Raglan and the Talamasca’s goals and I’m looking forward to Season 4 and more Akasha.
Things I hope for in S4: min. 10 episodes, more Louis/Lestat being in love, Armand being a loser.
Things I wish I got in S3: Lesmand backstory and more importantly, the trial revisit. I know they will revisit it; them doing the Merrick storyline in 3x06 confirmed it to me. The problem is that that revisit will probably happen when nobody even cares about it anymore, a bit like the mini-retcon of the Drop in 3x05.
