BACKGROUND:
Miral was born in a time when the procreation of elves was heavily guarded and shrouded in ritual. His parents knew the risk they were taking when his mother was first aware that he would be making an arrival, but they tried their best to keep their little secret from the elders who watched all of their kind. Despite their best efforts, their love for each other and for their unborn child would be their downfall. His parents were killed for their crimes against the elders and Miral was taken.
As he grew, Mira longed for a family of his own. Being raised by the elders was like growing up in a monastery. He learned everything about elf-kind and how to use his powers. He was taught to care for the Earth and to utilize the resources it provided to him. Mira discovered the ocean at a young age and began a lifelong fascination with it's mysterious depth. He loved to stare out at the waves for hours on end or to allow the current to sway his body this way and that. Being in the ocean was the only time Mira truly felt free and home.
Mira lived with the elders and learned their ways religiously. He would recite their rituals to himself and loved the artistry of it all. It made him feel as if he was a part of something, but as he aged, it felt more difficult to hold these values true. They didn't seem to make sense to him. The elders warned him of forming too close of connections to others, afraid that he might fall into the same path as his parents. The other strict guidelines made no sense to him either and it wasn't too long before he began breaking their rules. Once he discovered that there was no reason for their strict rituals and life codes, he wondered if there could be others in the world who lived differently. Mira wanted to be free from the lessons of his teachers, but he wanted to be accepted just as much.
After finally having enough of his rule breaking, and having covered for him a couple of times in the past, the elders of his kind could no longer ignore Mira's disregard for their way of life. They attempted to arrest him one night as the sun was setting in the sky, but he had been making plans of his own. Mira knew it was only a matter of time before the elders found out the true length of his disillusionment and had to act, so he'd been quietly stealing money from them for years. Slowly adding to a once small private bank account in preparation to escape. His account had grown quite impressive by the time they came to punish him for his crimes, so Mira had withdrew it all and disappeared. Hiding in the shadows for a few hundred years, Mira was able to get by without using any of the stolen money until he was sure the elders of his kind would never find him. Searching the world for somewhere he could belong, Mira eventually came to Vievecor City. It seemed that supernatural beings of all kinds lived here and he could blend in just as well. And maybe even make some friends.
After roaming the streets of the city for days and wondering in and out of little shops and clubs, Mira knew where he wanted to settle down. Holy Island. It was the island where the deities lived. The ocean here was beautiful and he could easily find a place to live near the coast. After using some of his money to secure his home, Mira applied for a job at the local art gallery as manager. Art was something he knew a great deal about and had studied in his years of researching the history of the world searching for his place within it. Art was something he could be passionate about without the elders questioning him. He could be emotional about paintings and music and movies and it not be something trivial because it was scholarly and seen as something to be admired, so Mira had poured himself into art. When he got the job, he was thrilled and takes his position there very seriously. Mira loves living in Vievecor because he can be the most himself he's ever been. He can dress and behave and be open without fear, but he takes the Golden Rule very seriously.
