Actually, the story behind how I got the idea to create Opossum Joker and Batdog is a little complicated. First, I’ve always wanted to draw furry characters because I just adore animals. However, I didn’t have the confidence to draw them because I was worried I couldn't make them cute enough.

During the year I became obsessed with Batjokes, I had the chance to visit a very nice lady's home and play with her rescued cat. He was so cute! While playing with him, I suddenly made up my mind to create a furry version of the Joker. I started researching what kind of animal would suit him best. I've seen some talented artists draw him as a cat, a hyena, a dog, or a raccoon... but I wanted to create something different. At the same time, I wanted the animal to be common—not something so obscure that only a few people would recognize it.

Then, I came across pictures of opossums on the internet. I know how common opossums are to Americans, and I thought it would be perfect to use an American animal since the Joker is American, lol! Plus, the opossum's pointy white face, their immunity to poison, their creepy vibe... it was just perfect.

Also, the idea for his furballs actually came from that cute cat! Before playing with him, I never knew cats had such cute balls—so I decided Opossum Joker absolutely must have those, too!

Batdog was a total no-brainer. My favorite animal is a dog, so he had to be a cute dog!

It's also the first time I'm seeing an animal Joker that's an Opossum I don't believe I've seen anyone else do it, which is why I was so intrigued (possums look very different in Australia, photos below for that).

I had no idea that they were immune to poison?? What?

I have one last question I forgot to ask, one of your posts had lore about Opossum Joker being abandoned because he had a pouch? Could you please explain that a bit more?

As for his pouch—since he’s male, he was born with a deformity that gave him one. It doesn’t affect his health, just make him a freak .I really wanted him to have a pouch because I thought it would be cool for him to hide his "toys" in there.
