(PARENTAL G/T FLUFF! Today I went to a water park, and I've also wanted to write about my characters swimming, so... it's a win-win for EVERYBODYYYYYYY)
Lorelai dipped her finger into the water. She felt the current slowly easing down the stream. The temperature was cold, yet tolerable. And almost immediately, the tip of Lorelai’s finger touched the rocky bottom.
Jackson sat on top of a lone boulder, playing with his rocks. He banged them together, as if they were fighting each other in a professional wrestling match. As he considered putting one in his mouth, Jackson noticed Lorelai was heading his way. Jackson dropped the pebbles, expecting her to tousle his hair or give him a meatstick.
“C’mere, baby.” Lorelai purred. She scooped him up, and Jackson was lifted into the sky. “Y’know what time it is?” His eyes widened. “Is it snack time?” Lorelai chuckled, “No, it's bath time.”
Jackson’s brief smile disappeared from his face.
Jackson swam underwater, amazed by all the smooth rocks beneath his toes. He reached down, trying to grab one of the pretty pebbles. Before he could dive further, a massive hand lifted Jackson to the surface.
Jackson breathed in and wiped his eyes. He slowly looked at his mother’s agitated face.”MAMA!” He coughed out water. “THERE’S A BUNCH OF COOL ROCKS DOWN THERE! CAN I GET ONE?” “Jackson, you’re supposed to be gettin’ a bath, not swimming.” Lorelai narrowed her eyebrows, and he shrugged. “Oh yeeeah. C-Can I still get a rock?”
“Not right now.” She huffed, lowering her hand. Beneath Jackson’s feet was her huge palm, preventing him from going back underwater. “Aw…” He pawed at her hand, longing to go down again. Lorelai poured a little water into her other palm and let it trickle down his shoulders. “Bleh!” He shook his body as she grabbed a small, scavenged cloth.
Holding the cloth between two fingertips, Lorelai carefully scrubbed his body. She quickly wiped all the dirt off him, and for good measure, rinsed his body again. Jackson splashed back at her, and a laugh slipped from his lips. “Oh, feisty, are you?” Lorelai smirked. His tiny splash did nothing to her, but she played along anyway.
After a good bit of playtime, Jackson was exhausted. His small body panted like a dog. “Still want one of the rocks?” Lorelai asked. Immediately, Jackson lit up. “YEAH!” He grinned. “Alright, but make it quick. I’ve got a meatstick with your name on it.” Lorelai removed her hand, letting Jackson dive back down.
He grabbed the most interesting rock he could find. It was smooth, bluish gray, and plump. Jackson swam back up and showed his mother the rock. “Mama, say hello to the newest member of my collection…” He grinned. “Showdown Samantha.”
“...we’re having another rock wrestling match, aren’t we?”
Jackson nodded. “It’s gonna be the fight of the century.”
