Ant was still small but it wasn’t horribly noticeable compared to other pebbles who hatched around the same time, but they just stayed that size while everyone else grew bigger and bigger. Combined with their immunodeficiency not a lot of eridians were expecting Ant to reach the age that they have, but Ant is a very determined little scientist. Ant does also come from a family of smaller eridians so they still had their families love and support through it all

Fun little fact as well: The reason Dreamcicle loves making jewelry and little trinkets for Valentine is because she felt bad for all the times she didn’t realize Val was confessing to her, so she started making pieces for every confession she missed. Then it just became a hobby because Dream loves seeing her wife dressed up all pretty and preening to other eridians
