He watches his mother’s owl fly over breakfast, towards Gryffindor Table. He dreams he’s one of them. That he’s braver than he is.

He would leap over the tables, snatch the letter and burn it before Sirius gets it.

He would convince his mother otherwise.

He would walk over and sit with his brother as he reads. Listen to him as he cries or rages or smokes 5 cigarettes in a row.

He would distract Sirius from the owl.

He would confound the owl.

He would k*ll the owl.

He would leave.

Instead, he watches. He waits. He meets his former brother’s eyes.

Remus: His family could never afford proper lessons, but his mum taught him how to sound songs out. If you give him a song and a day or so, he can play it.

Peter: Took lessons from ages 7-11. He can still read music but it will take him WEEKS to learn a song enough to play it in front of people.

Sirius: Perfect pitch. Keyboard master with anything from memory or sightread. Remus is both frustrated and turned on any time Sirius plays anything, because he’s SO good. It’s not fair.
