This is from FIDLAR's music video for "Wait For The Man", where they crudely colour over frames from a generic rock music video to make it their own
The sixth hour-long radio show that I did for WVCW picking from my own music. Songs are by Hunx and his Punx, Slutever, Heavy Cream, Nightmare Boyzzz, Eternal Summers, Joyce Manor, Andrew Jackson Jihad, The Blue Rajas, Paint Fumes, Los Vigilantes, The Cigarettes, Thee Flying Carpets, and The Misfits. It features a retrospective of Macrock, Andrew Jackson Jihad / Joyce Manor at the Camel, and Blue Rajas / Nervous Ticks / Paint Fumes / Los Vigilantes at Strange Matter... And only 40 minutes long this week!
This is a scene from the 2003 French animated film “The Triplets of Belleville”, by Sylvain Chomet.

This is a piece by Jen Stark, who makes sculptures out of stacks of coloured construction paper. The layers are partially cut up and folded out to create colourful, dynamic three-dimensional shapes. The shapes are starkly simplistic to emphasize Jen Stark's ability to create forms out of a collection of flat shapes. This particular is a set of relief triangles used to create a projecting pyramidic shape.
The Rakes are a post-punk revivalist band from East London. They separate themselves from other revivalists by focusing on the harder rock side of post-punk, drawing their influences from Gang of Four and The Fall rather than Joy Division and The Cure. The result is upbeat and aggressive rather than poppy and airy or dissonant and brooding. This song Strasbourg is the opening track of their debut album and is about people escaping East Germany.
I reblogged this from Erik over at avoidinghardwork. Although I showed it to him in the first place.
The first one hour radio show that Erik and I did for WVCW picking from our own music! Lots of great garage rock here.
My friend Erik and I have a radio station with VCU! We're slowly uploading the entirety of our music libraries to convert their daytime-shuffle into our personal playlist. Besides that, we have our own show on Fridays from 2-3 that you should listen to. Check it out!
Billy Childish is a 52-year-old rocker, artist, poet, photographer, author and all-around cool person from England. He's made over 100 albums with a handful of different bands. Some of his best work was with Thee Headcoats, where he created a signature folksy garage rock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aaaPHt0ttEk

Bleached is a noise band that I've been listening to a lot of recently... They're playing in Harrisonburg this weekend but I couldn't make it out there. Check out they're album "Carter". It's splendid.
Stephen Frykholm was the creative director for the furniture company Herman Miller, which was one of the first American manufacturers to embrace a modernist furniture style. During his 40 years at Herman Miller, Frykholm also created hundreds of modernist posters that reflect his attention to design. The smooth curves of the rainbow in this one give grace to the stark composition of the vibrant against bleak white. The lack of borders between colours, the subtle overlap of the stripes, and the minimal use of shadow to define their curves all serve to make this poster a successful exploration of stark modern design.
