Archives are already disappearing
I just checked my Archive, and almost everything from November 2018 going back to February 2016 are gone.
We don’t have the two weeks we thought.

Fuck. It's been 11 hours and it still says Backup Processing. Anyone else having this problem? I only have 1250 posts, it's nothing compared to the stash of @elamantemenguante -- 25 GB of 9842 posts, which took 75 minutes (granted, this was before Tumblr Winter).
Did you use Tumblr in another window at the same time, or did you leave it alone? I can't figure out if I should try to save my posts manually at this point or what. And i have to go to work at some point today...
We at Piczel.tv are sad to see Tumblr’s stance against NSFW artists, and would like to offer up our services as an alternative to Tumblr’s arbitrary shadowbans, deletions, and general stupidity.
We’re happy to host adult artists who are looking for a new place to call home, and are planning a few key upgrades and features.
Effectively immediately though, our gallery upload size restriction has been removed, to be likely raised to 10MB in the near future for non-premium users. As always, we support image sets, and don’t compress anything. Firstly, for those that have been using tumblr as a portfolio, you’ll need a way to download all of your art, if you don’t have backups somewhere else. We are planning a tool for Piczel.tv that will import zip files full of images, including titles and descriptions if we are able. Second, we’re planning the following upgrades to piczel in the coming weeks: 1. Bulk upload/import to your piczel.tv gallery 2. Gallery UI cleanup and improvements 3. Gallery performance improvements 4. Gallery comments with in line image and custom emote support 5. Site-wide PMs (in the vein of tumblr asks, but better) 6. Archive button for your piczel account Don’t forget to follow us on twitter, we may be deleted on the 17th with everyone else. Tumblwintr - Day 1
This will not be my last post on Tumblwintr.
Just a few quick items for now:
I will not be maintaining this blog after 17 Dec 2018. I have created a WordPress blog, URL forthcoming (although you can probably guess), where I will be posting my writings on size fantasy for the foreseeable future (which isn’t very far).
I have over 400 posts in Drafts and Queue, and you deserve to see them. Accordingly, starting at 11:00pm EST tonight, I will quadruple the rate at which the Queue posts.
I am actively compiling the “where to find me” posts I see from others, and starting on 10 Dec 2018 I will reblog the compiled list every day. This list will also be prominently featured on my WordPress blog. If you want your forwarding information to be included, please send me an Ask or a Message with your info (don’t just reblog this post with your info at the end if you want me to see it).
With this post, I will have 9950 posts in my Archive, all diligently tagged. I hadn’t thought about what I would do when I broke 10k, but emptying the Queue will do it and then some. I ain’t takin’ any of it down; Tumblr’s gonna have do it themselves.
Thank you for all you have done for this community, Olo, and all that you will continue to do. We're damn lucky to have you.
I'm feeling so heartbroken about the Tumblr announcement. I will lose years of curated content and writing, and over 850 drafts, plus the safe place that helped me find myself and embrace my sexuality. I can only imagine what artists are feeling at losing art blogs. #SizeTwitter, save us!

For anyone looking for blog backups, I'm going to quote @elamantemenguante here. The loss of his blog will be a tragedy for our community. I'm going to try this backup method tonight.

On the desktop, go to Settings, then select the blog you want to back up, then click Export Blog.
Out of curiosity, I actually did this to see what I’d get. At 9842 published posts, 270 posts in Drafts, and 180 posts in the Queue, it took Tumblr 75 minutes to prepare a backup for ElAmanteMenguante. The resulting archive came to 25GB, which took 90 minutes to download.
Unzipped, the archive contains all the posts as separate files with the media stored in a subfolder (you have to move the media into the folder with the posts to get the filepaths correct). The posts are bare bones, without any theme you might have been using. There’s a master posts.xml file, but it seems to lack the .css libary to make a true index of the posts. The individual post files don’t seem to have any useful naming conventions, so unless I’m missing something about how to open the posts.xml file, it’s near-impossible to reconstruct the blog exactly how it appears on Tumblr.
Dunno what I’m going to do with this. 25GB is not an inconsequential volume for me. Since I already have a lot of this stuff stored more usefully, and I see little value in trying to precisely restore ElAmanteMenguante elsewhere, I’ll probably get rid of it soon.
But, for those of you who don’t have other backups, you might consider trying it.

I’ve never received such overwhelmingly positive feedback for a story, and I’m deeply grateful to my beta readers and everyone who read my work and reviewed it. There seems to be genuine interest in more stories with these characters, so I plan to continue it as a series!
Would you be surprised to know that I nearly didn’t submit it? It’s been a hard few months (work stress, the Kavanaugh hearings, my family’s home flooding in Texas) and I didn’t feel it was my best work. I worried it wasn’t explicitly sexy enough, especially when folks who have followed my blog in the last couple of years know I’m capable of so much more. I’m glad I took the risk and shared it, anyway. In the interest of cataloging evidence for the next time my Impostor Syndrome tries to talk me out of being creative...

Tumblr often re-defaults people to Safe Search mode, even if you've previously disabled it. Are you using the Tumblr app on your phone? When Apple removed the Tumblr app from their store earlier this week, many app users were no longer able to see NFSW blogs. Is your blog flagged NFSW?
I’m using a Desktop. And the weird thing is, I looked in my settings several times. I don’t have an option to turn it off or on. The “filtering” section doesn’t even exist.
Never mind, I managed to track it down. And I still have it turned off.
And I can still view N S F W content, far as I know. And no, my blog isn’t flagged for it. I thought it was, but I looked and it’s not.
This literally only happened with my posts the last few days. None of the vore tagged stuff shows up in the tag.
…In fact, it seems like NONE of my tags work.
I just tried searching for the tags on several of my recent posts, and none of them are coming up in Search. Tumblr Search has always sucked, but this is the first time I’ve been blanked completely.
So that means if you don’t already follow my blog, you’ll only see my stuff if someone reblogs it. I guess Tumblwinter is almost upon us.
I had a hard time searching for my own tags on my own blog through the mobile app just the other day.
I didn't know Apple had removed the app from their store! That's awful.
