I only knew it was about an organization dealing with The Horrors™ so I kind of expected something like the Ghostbusters but academic. It took me about halfway through season 1 to fully understand that the Institute really only collects statements and maybe does some follow up research to verify them but don't actually do anything about whatever monster of the week they're dealing with.

But nope, it's all just "thank you for your statement. Oh you're still being haunted by the shadow behind you getting closer every time you look in the mirror? Well sucks to be you, not like we're gonna do anything about it. Have a nice rest of your life!"

hello thank u i laughed v hard at that tag and i said to myself “wow this would be a fun little animation project to do slowly over time as a break between my other art pieces!” as i proceeded to spend my entire friday evening on it

i wonder if when simon told that one guy enjoy sky blue if the reason he laughed while saying it was because he was sharing his own joy. if in his own way he wasn't being generous, sharing the experience that changed him forever. i wonder if as much as he spreads terror, maybe what he really wanted was to share that experience, and that's why he picked someone who loves sky-diving, someone who was also in love with the sky.

i wonder if that guy who was eaten by the sky isn't out there now, saying the sky held him gently in the huge jaws of endless blue, and he cried with joy as he understood. if what for his mother was a horrible experience that killed her son, for him wasn't the liberation from his mortal life and worries before the realization that we are nothing.

The Buried and the Vast really are just two sides of the same coin, wishing for an embrace and love from something that cannot feel. It is simply space, just in two different volumes.

Question for your lovely Michael, what was his reaction to Gerry or Gertrude's passing? The fact he's added pieces of their clothing to his outfit is a somber touch 😢

Also, does Michael like to mess with Jon at all?

Michael has incredibly mixed feelings once he realizes that Gertrude is not gonna be around anymore ;D

OK! I managed to throw together my pair of ideas for Gerry & Mike actually getting along vs griping at each other in book hunters au. Both are dramatic and accidentally feature falling, whoops. Aaaaanyway, Gerry falling off a roof because Reasons™ and Mike has to go against his nature to stop that happening.

Other idea, I figure Mike, despite being much less vulnerable after abandoning his humanity, could conceivably still be Spiral sensitive given the right circumstances. But luckily, Gerry is very charming and knows a guy.

Gerry's off taking it easy so Mike is on his own running errands. He's having a Bad Time™ about it.

It doesn't get better when he leaves the archives.
