I kinda find it funny how the Shameless writers were thinking "well, we don't know if Noel Fisher is ever going to come back to the show, so we need to make an episode that really puts his and Ian's relationship to rest once and for all. Something that makes our viewers feel satisfied." And their idea of doing that was by establishing that Ian was still in love with him to the point where he would drop almost everything to run away to a different country with him and that the way he felt about Mickey was so much more powerful than how he had felt about any of his love interests after him. I mean I'm glad they didn't try and make Mickey a dick but that simply doesn't feel like the best way to handle that situation.
