I have come to realise that my love for Mickey 17 would then grow into my love for Iron Lung which would then grow into my love for Project Hail Mary. These movies jusy give me everything I need.
Mickey 17 is about a guy being launched into space, into the unknown, because he has no other choice. He's literally an expandable. He lives as a fragmented version of himself. He forms a deep bond with the native creatures on his planet. He has found his soulmate there.
Project Hail Mary is about a guy being launched into space, into the unknown, because he has no other choice. He's somewhere in between a tool and a hero. He wakes up with a fragmented memory. He forms a deep bound with the alien that he works with to save both of their worlds. He finds his best friend, someone to be brave for.
Iron Lung. There's a guy who is forced to sink into an ocean on blood. He's a disgrace. He sacrifices himself for people who dispise him. His memories are painful to bear. He doesn't know whether he is hunting, or being hunted, but very soon it becomes just him with this creature. He has no one.
