my amourshipping take is that yes the criticism levied at it *is* kind of fair and there *are* issues and underdeveloped aspects of it but at the same time it was my absolute favorite pokemon ship 10+ years ago when XY was coming out and i CANNOT let that go + on rewatch I still find the source material to be very sweet even when I have a great urge to try and fix it
