Taika Waititi - Thor Love and Thunder world premiere, LA June 23, 2022
âThen, we thought that he should slowly morph into Princeâs colors. He should start all black, and then the purple comes out as he falls in love and embraces falling in love with Stede.â
Taika discusses being able to just act in OFMD after ep 1, fanart, and what he wants from s2

Highlights from Rhys Darbyâs 6/20 final LA show!
To put it mildly, it was
FUCKING INCREDIBLE.
-First up, as I was walking to pick up my tix at will call Samba was walking in front of me taking a pic of the Largo, clearly pretty excited! Aww!!
-Once inside the show waiting for the doors to open, who strolls in as a VIP in attendance? VICO. And they were of course, amazing. So sweet, so kind. They walked through the crowd chatting with people, just chillin, and people were really cool with them. I got to chat with them a bit about the show, their creativity, and our immense gratitude for their presence and advocacy on social media.
-The fans were so lovely. A bunch of folks were walking around giving gifts they made like the peeps who came up to me and said, âFancy a fine fabric?â and were passing out swatches of the break-up robe (pictured above with adorable pins and stickers made by another fan). Our crew are some of the most creative, beautiful people! Truly.
-As the show got started, Sambaâs opening was a DREAM. Before he went on, Rhys and Samba did a Captain and Roach bit where Capt asked Roach to look into the spyglass and figure out whoâs out there (meaning the crowd). Samba as Roach says. âItâs the British!â Rhys as Stede says âAw no, I think theyâre Americans! Roach, why donât you go out and distract them for a bit, while I go put on something sexier!â
-Samba comes out and does his set and itâs wonderful. He had this hilarious bit about paint ball and a bachelor party and he ended with thanking the fans for being the reason they got a Season 2 (sniff).
-Listening to Samba introduce Rhys was just *chefs kiss* So much love and respect all around!
-Rhys came out to âWhite Roomâ again, kicking and high stepping his legs off, and launched right into all the bits people have shared from his other LA shows. He was radiant, beaming, and so full of energy and joy. And laughter! He was having a good time, for sure.
-During the bit about the walk of shame, he accidentally said something about going out the ânight beforeâ instead of the âmorning after,â and quickly made a new bit out of it, calling it the walk back in time, or The Walk of Time, complete with Dr Strange moves, to send people back to the time before they made a decision leading to the walk of shame. The bit was hilarious and I think he was pretty proud of it! He yelled off stage, to Rosie or someone - âWe have to remember that one!â
-The rest bits were great. My face hurt from laughing so much and my partner was literally crying. Rhys did the army bit about getting lost while on watch and he did bulletsbulletsbullets!!!!!!!!! (which is a personal fave).
-Rosie was there in the wings!!! I could see her from my seat- he gave her a shout out as his one and only - and the crowd went wild.
-Vico was also in the crowd watching the show!!!!! Rhys called out to them during the Puerto Rico bit and ran out into the crowd to find them and gave them a huuuuuuuge hug. It was the sweetest and obvi the crowd loved it. I think there is video of it floating around! Vico gave him an impromptu tutorial on how to say Puerto Rico- Vico says âdonât say the âRâ in the middle but roll the R in Ricoâ - and Rhys did a pretty great job! He called back to that moment later, too.
-For the encore, Rhys did Leggy Blonde!!!!!!!!!!!!(GAY GASP SCREAM FAINT) while Finn (Aww) played keyboard; Samba came out, and they danced a bit and did a call and answer with the audience for the chorus- (Rhys/Samba: leggy, leggy, leggy leggy, audience: leggy, leggy leggy leggyâŚ) Best. Sing Along. Ever.
-After Rhysâ set and the Leggy Blonde encore, he and Samba took selfies from the stage with the crowd in the background! I was in the third row on the right side so not sure if we made it in, but who cares. Everyone looked ecstatic! Finn also took a pic, and Rosie did too - as well as video of Leggy Blonde. Hope she posts it! It was epic!
-The whole THING was epic, wholesome, joyful, and so, so fun. He is everything. All of yâall were there in spirit, too! You could feel it. Best. Fandom. Ever. đđźđłď¸âđđ´ââ ď¸âĽď¸đ

Exactly what you CAN and CAN'T share from the Cryptid Factor patreon:
đThat's from Buttons himself, folks!
If you see someone sharing video clips, please don't share it and feel free to send them this post as a reminder. They're going directly against what Buttons, Rhys, and Dan have requested. If there's a moment you feel like you absolutely need to share, do it in gif or image form. TBH I think this is very fair!
âRhys is inherently loveable. You can not help but love him.â - Taika Waititi
thinking about romcom break-up beats. thinking about romcom Letâs Go Get Our Damn Men Back beats. thinking about heath ledgerâs marching band canât take my eyes off of you, a big public declaration mid-film, versus buying her the guitar at the end of the film - an expression of yeah, i see you. thinking about mark darcy telling bridget jones that he likes her just as she is, buying her a fresh diary for a new start. thinking about julia roberts being just a girl standing in front of a boy, and hugh grant chasing julia roberts across london, standing up in front of a crowd to ask her forgiveness, to ask her to stay. thinking about julia roberts discovering how she likes her eggs and admitting sheâs been trying to be the person everyone wants her to be, asking richard gere to love her as the person she is, turning in her running shoes.Â
thinking about how these beats go, so often, as can you see me now? and fumbling for the answer. thinking about stede failing to see ed beyond the shaved beard and the folded socks, failing to see his choices as being freely made, and about ed failing to see stedeâs hesitations. thinking about itâs rotten work / not if itâs you. thinking about miscommunications. thinking about fear of becoming our past. thinking about his name is ed not just as a confession but also a realization - the reconciliation of all of his various pieces and parts and how love does not tear him apart but rather takes him as a whole, unifies all these personas into one man and the same heâs always been: ed, watching over stede, reaching out to shake his hand the first time.  Â
thinking about these dramatic theatre kids and their fuckeries. thinking about the 1717 pirate equivalent of holding a boom box over your head. thinking about the 171 pirate equivalent of riding a horse into their wedding to stop them making a mistake. of chasing them through the airport. of meeting them at sunrise, through the fog, to try one last time. thinking about listing everything you know and love about them, and saying, when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.Â
iâm thinking about stede chasing ed across the sea, trying to get his damn man back. stede, putting on fuckeries, using his theatrical chops, trying to make a declaration, trying to catch edâs attention, trying to get him to forgive him. iâm thinking about ed turning away from all this, from everything that wants too much from him, from everything that looks like it might appeal to blackbeard, to the kraken, to calico jack. iâm thinking about stede trying and failing.
and then iâm thinking about stede, learning more and more about ed as a person. about ed, as a whole. thinking about stede adjusting his approach.Â
about stede being able, finally, to quietly say, i see you now. and iâm still here.Â
David Jenkinsâ three words to describe Stede and Ed from his new interview with Awards Radar (x)
The simple, deliberate, and gentle depictions of queer joy are breathtaking.

Do not rip clips from The Cryptid Factor Patreon Videos!
Rhys mentioned it on the preamble for todayâs Cryptid Factor (episode 74) and essentially whilst they appreciate the new fans, donât rip clips that are exclusively for Patreons. This isnât pirating from a big corp, this is content made by the creators.
If you see clips, please donât reblog them and maybe think about becoming a Patreon. Itâs really worth it!
Thank you so much for sharing this! I had the same thought when I heard him talk about it on the preamble today. Just to reiterate, becoming a next level Patreon is SO worth it, and you KNOW they appreciate the support!!!
Side note: I also think Rhys will be much more cautious when talking about OFMD BTS stuff on the podcast now bc the fans will spill all the tea. That was cool while it lasted! I love it as much as the next person, AND I also feel like we need to respect and protect Rhysâ (and other cast and crewâs) openness about the process and the personal detail they often share, as the gifts they are.
