they meet on a bus on the first day of school when lance falls on keith’s lap because he loses his balance, typical telenovela style
keith: *instinctively grabs lance but looks bewildered as shit* lance, voice cracking in embarrassment: “i guess you can say i just fell for you”
keith, internally: ‘don’t fuck up in front of the cute boy’ keith: “can you get off my lap, you’re heavy” keith, internally: ‘fuck’
lance, scrambling off: “sure thing buddy!”
keith, when he sees lance again in school: “oh it’s you. bus boy”
lance, trying to be smooth but failing spectacularly: “actually the name’s lance”
they find out they have a lot of classes together and, for whatever reason, always end up sitting next to each other
lance scribbles an apology for what happened on the bus and keith scribbles an apology back about how blunt he was
pretty soon there’s a small pile of notes on their desks, something that doesn’t stop even after they become close
keith fits in pretty well with the space squad, as lance likes to call it
lance, sniffing proudly: “i knew i made a good decision letting you in”
keith, teasingly: “does your decision depend on how comfortable someone’s lap is?” lance: *dying whale noises*
they both start crushing on each other hard, but neither of them makes a move and just pine from afar, until lance says ‘fuck it’
keith, barging into lance’s room: “did you seriously just-” lance, sitting up in bed: “what the fuck, who let you in?” keith: “your mom”
keith: “anyways, did you seriously mail me a letter that says ‘roses are red, violets are blue, your lap is comfy, and i’m in love with you’”
lance, laughing nervously: “so….what’s your response?” keith: *tackles lance and kisses him*
hunk once sneaks accidentally takes a look at keith’s phone and sees that he has lance listed as “bb” in his contacts
hunk: “it’s cute how you call lance baby-” keith, deadpan: “it’s bus boy” hunk: “…sorry?” keith: “bb stands for bus boy”
lance, in the distance: “stop telling everyone that!!”
hunk: “what do you have keith listed as?” lance:
lance, quietly: “…..my fav chair….”
