I felt really — I really felt very strongly that I didn't want Louis to kneel. I didn't want him to kneel at Lestat. I didn't like the optics of it. And it wasn't scripted. It was scripted that 'he pleads' with Lestat but I was just, like, I can't — I can't — I don't want that image. I don't want Louis, like, bending in that way to Lestat and being like, "please", and the begging. It just felt like a betrayal of Louis. But then when we rehearsed the scene I was like, that's exactly what it has to be. It has to be the most uncomfortable feeling. It has to be — again, you're, like, seeing a version of Louis that I never thought when we first started, you'd ever actually see. And it is this, like, fear and this kind of, like, little boy version of Louis and the Catholicism coming in as well, the Catholic guilt and the idea of, like, kneeling and prostrating yourself… it was really confronting. And I remember actually saying when we finished shooting, I said to Rolin I was like, "I didn't want to kneel," and he was like, "I didn't tell you to." He was like, "It was right but I didn't tell you to." Yeah.
