absolutley bonkers takes

i wish good fic writers wrote quality fanfic about jason todd where he's not buddy buddy with the rest of the so called bat family and he gets to live his own fulfilling life separate from them and he's an independent vigilante/crime lord doing what he thinks is best for gotham and he's estranged from the family and part of the rogue's gallery but that's not as big of a tragedy as people make it out to be because he exists in the same liminal space as catwoman talia al ghul harvey dent two face where bruce has genuine love and compassion for them but will run into conflict with them when their values and interests clash and that's not a really a tragedy conflict happens all the time with family the real tragedy is if we declawed and defanged and muzzled jason todd until he is unrecognizable from his cool character as red hood where he stood for what he believed in despite it being an inconvenience to everyone involved. but no, it seems that the most popular iteration of jason todd is when he's this spineless toothless lackey for batman using rubber bullets because daddy said killing was bad :( if jason todd ever goes back to having "all murder is bad" as one of his core moral values again it should be a conclusion he comes to himself after years of self reflection not because its something he was strong armed into by the fucking bat. OH and i dont want him to be woobified and overly victimized. OH and catherine and willis todd are not villainized in the backstory to prop up bruce wayne as the better parent. is that too much to ask, chat?

i see black sails folks sometimes wishing that the show got more attention and acclaim but really and truly how many of us can survive mainstream media making the most god-awful uninspired incorrect takes about this show? how many of us can handle mass mischaracterization of beloved characters? happened to my best friend one piece.....
