parts of a whole

My house is not quite to the hoarder level but I definitely have a problem with too much stuff and general disarray and mess. So I recently decided to try "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up". I am just starting and I just finished the first phase of the first category of the KonMari Method. It is clothing and because of my schedule (I'm a teacher), I had to break it up into two sections (one section down, one to go). I am kind of struggling with the whole process, which I expected. However, I am not struggling with it in the way that I expected. It is definitely an overwhelming task but I am struggling with the "sparks joy" aspect of things. I am not some one who cares a lick about my clothes. While I have some things I prefer over others, clothes in general don't really spark joy for me. For example, it felt strange sorting through my socks and asking my self over and over again if that specific pair of socks sparks joy. If I had stuck to that method completely I would have had maybe three pairs of underwear, four shirts, two socks and one bra. I guess I would just have to go pants less and do laundry a lot. So instead I went with the do I like it, does it fit, is it falling apart method, and do I actually wear it method. Has anyone else run into this trouble while trying to work through this method? If so, what did you do to overcome it?
