Genuinely one of my most favourite illustrations to come out of Kizuna era 💙🧡

Like do you see how Yamato isn’t even mad about getting his food stolen lol, that’s the face of a guy who was fully prepared for this to happen and is just enjoying the chance to play around with Taichi 😌 Also Taichi being the embodiment of this emoji 😋 gets me everytime, he just looks too cute.

And it’s crazy how every time I look at this magazine I’m reminded of the fact that Yamato bought an expensive af bike just because he was obsessed with bikes at that moment. The word ハマっている is often used to describe things that are trending or people’s latest obsession, so yes Yamato woke up one day and decided that he thinks bikes are cool and then went and bought himself one because Idk TakaIshi parents seem to be loaded? I mean doesn’t Takeru drive like a big SUV looking car in 02TB, I genuinely wanna know how both Yamato and Takeru ended up buying their bike and car respectively and how their conversations with Hiroaki and Natsuko went at the time 😂

I mean I personally love the lore addition of Yamato being the kind of guy who gets addicted to trends (he’s probably hella tsundere about it when called out lol) and makes impulse purchases.

I wanted to do Yamato and Taichi but I feel like the answer is going to be Takeru and Hikari lol so let's do the opposite and go for Takeru and Hikari instead 😅

I am going to answer both lol.

So, for Taichi and Yamato, my gut answer is actually each other. ❤️

My TaiYama ship feels are so ingrained at this point that I fully believe they are in love with each other - whether that’s a platonic kind of love, or taken further than that, as I do in my stories.

From my limited grasp of canon, I see them being so dedicated to and supportive of one another, even if that support can sometimes look like challenge. I can’t imagine a scenario where they would not go to the other’s side the moment they are needed.

This is perhaps even more true for Yamato, who is so driven in general to help and look out for others. He will pretend he could not give less of a shit. But if Taichi says the word, that’s it.

I do think they would both drop everything for their siblings too - and probably for any of their teammates. But what Taichi and Yamato have between them carries a particularly intense pull over them.

For Takeru and Hikari, I have less of a firm opinion because I don’t feel like I know them as well as characters. However, I would probably be inclined to say each other here, too,

I don’t really ship them as a pairing (mostly because I don’t think they would have a very interesting dynamic and so I have no urge to unpick it) but I do think they would be incredibly close friends… more found family than friends really. And are trauma bonded enough for that to last a lifetime.

Within that, I absolutely think that they would drop everything for one another, more so than for anyone else in their lives.

One moment Gabumon is promising Yamato to stay with him forever, even when he grows up, have kids and becomes a grandpa

Another moment Gabumon is just... Gone! Because Yamato has grown up!

I obviously also love to think of him of as a space nerd but alternatively, one of my favourite professions for him is Detective (after Rockstar of course) and I’m glad that we got some canon scenes hinting towards his capabilities to pull something like this off 💙 (That’s the whole inspiration behind Lilacs Blooming in the Snow)

What love triangle? This is the totality of their relationship development.

-> Taichi and Sora met in soccer club and bonded over being the strikers of their team. -> Over the course of Digimon Adventure, this pre-existing connection gave them a closer friendship than many other pairs of characters, which could be interpreted to be romantic. -> Taichi and Sora also met Yamato at this time. -> Taichi seemed to develop feelings for Sora over the course of Adventure and/or the next three years. -> At the same time, Sora developed feelings for Yamato over this period and three years later in 02, she decided she wanted to be with him. -> This scene.

In which unspoken tension thick enough to cut with a knife passes between Taichi and Sora, which Agumon picks up on. But Taichi swallows his feelings and wishes Sora and Yamato well. -> Sora and Yamato get together and eventually they get married and have kids. -> Taichi moves on from Sora and eventually falls in love with someone else and has a kid of his own. -> The end.

That's not really a love triangle. There was a period of maybe two minutes in which Taichi and Yamato were in competition for Sora, and it's a competition that Taichi immediately conceded and bowed out of.

This may well be the most mature and well-adjusted thing Taichi has ever done in his life. An absolute highlight of his character. If everybody could handle romantic disappointment as maturely as Taichi did here, the world would be a much kinder place to live.

I feel like the fandom wants there to be a love triangle, moreso than that there actually is one. Fans want Taichi to be upset. They want Taichi and Yamato to lock horns about this. They want fistfights between Taichi and Yamato over who gets to take Sora to prom.

But that's not what Taichi wants. A key point of 02 was seeing how the characters have grown up from their development in the first series. Taichi and Yamato not only learned important lessons in that time but had three years to incorporate those lessons into the people they're becoming.

They're not screaming children who will punch each other at the drop of a hat anymore. They grew up. That's the point. They're more level-headed now and have a lot of genuine respect for each other and for Sora. And they make better choices, even when those choices hurt.

I just.

Both Sora and Taichi already knew Yamato. Sure Yamato wasn't a part of their soccer club and also Yamato was in a different class but they still knew each other

If Taichi really had feelings for Sora (It's ambiguous) Yamato did not know anything about it at all

I don’t think that Yamato is actually capable of this lol. If he is furious, the best he might be able to do is limit himself to being sulky and catty, or to just being silent. But the rage will still be written all over his face. Anger is a very raw emotion for him, and one that I don’t think he cares to hide. Actually being polite to someone he is really angry at is not in his wheelhouse.

Taichi, however, will smile and shake your hand and charm you and you will have no idea that in his head he is plotting your doom. Having an excellent poker face is essential to excel in politics, and I headcanon that as he grows up, Taichi develops excellent diplomacy skills - including the ability to keep his anger hidden when he needs to.
