Reblog to press on prev's posting gland
Lord knows I needed this advice 30 some years ago and I still struggle with acknowledging its truth to this day.
Opalized crab claw fossil, a rare geological occurrence where organic material is replaced by precious opal.
The fossil dates back to the Cretaceous period, roughly 66 million years ago, when the area was covered by an inland sea.
It was found in Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, Australia, a region known for ideal conditions where silica-rich groundwater replaced the original exoskeleton.
The vivid colors are entirely natural and are caused by the diffraction of light through microscopic silica spheres within the opal.
have you seen the "you're evil unless you press the blue button" discourse on reddit. (two buttons, red and blue, everyone who presses the blue button dies unless more than 50% of people pressed it) I'm guessing you'd be a red button presser like myself but I'm curious if you have opinions on why reddit is pushing this really hard right now. so many subreddits are pushing "you're evil if you press red" and even "liberal" boards are calling red button pressers "retarded" for not risking themselves to save the blue button pressers. it feels like an op or an astroturf to me but not sure why.
Yes I have
It's an ethical optical illusion. The correct choice is red. Everyone would press red and has pressed red. But you know thst "risk yourself to save others" is the kind of answer you are supposed to give as a good and moral person, so people will bend over backwards and invent new elements to make it into the right answer. The social desirability bias will twist their brains up so that picking blue is a heroic moral stand expressing their faith in humanity. They'll say that since losing even 1% of the world would be so disruptive, we have an obligation to press blue to prevent it.
They say everyone has an obligation to press blue in order to save everyone, because some people will press blue recklessly. But they don't believe that logic holds. Nobody actually believes in endangering half of society in order to save the most reckless people in it. If they did, all of them would be as reckless as the most reckless people in society, because they'd be following them around everywhere! They'd hear the national weather service announce a tornado warning that said to stay inside, and would immediately drive outside to try and rescue the people who were too reckless to stay inside.
IIRC, the thought experiment was designed specifically so that the proper-sounding pro-social answer was the incorrect one, in order to illustrate exactly what it illustrated.
It's even more obvious if you reverse the order of presentation. Because described from Red first, it's 'you push this button, you live. You push this other button and you will die, UNLESS over half the population also decides to push this button. Then nobody dies.'
By putting the blue button first, it makes it sound like the default and that choosing red is the choice of death. But blue is the choice of death, in all situations.
I learned about this problem from this Dev video:https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HDUak4vAczk which also includes two details that you didn’t consider. 1: Polls, including a poll where the penalty was actually enforced (as a server ban not as literal death) reliably found that about 60% of people choose blue so voting red is effectively risking those people’s lives when blue was probably going to win anyways, and 2: There will always be some people who choose blue, children who didn’t understand the rules and chose a button at random, people who slipped and pressed the wrong button, or who wanted to save everyone and don’t know game theiry or who are blind or whatever. Those people will
From a game theory perspective there is no reason not to choose red. From an ethics perspective it’s much more complicated.
see, you have to add elements to it to turn it into a heroic moral stand. the question specifies that it is only presented to people who understand it. but people have to add in "what about all the people who don't understand it?" so you can include children and the blind.
there is absolutely nothing that is ethically complicated about not endangering yourself to save the most reckless people in the world. period. no ambiguity. if the most reckless people in the world pushed the Commit Suicide Button the proper response is "wow, they really should not have done that" the way you react to literally every other instance of suicidal recklessness.
in fact, you can remove the red button and literally nothing changes! the red button does nothing in the scenario. so the scenario actually is "a man walks up to you and, after determining you can understand the offer, presents a blue button that, if pushed, will kill you unless more than 50% of people total pushed the button. you can also just, like, leave." this scenario is identical in every way and yet the answer is even more screamingly obvious.
this is not an ethical or moral question. this is a question of if you can see the obvious when social desirability demands you do otherwise.
see, you have to add elements to it to turn it into a heroic moral stand
those are not added elements. those are just things that always exist in reality. you on the other hand have to add "the question is only presented to people who understand it" in order to make red be the correct answer.
the question is supposed to be an analogy meant to send a message so we are fully within our rights to question whether it IS actually analogous to reality. or whether in order to make the analogy you had to flatten or erase some rather relevant components of this equation.
the component flattened here is a very simple component thats omnipresent in the lives of every person in existence: reality isnt perfect. you assume that everyone who pressed one of the buttons made a conscious informed decision. you assume perfection. reality will not give it to you. its as simple as that. youre also assuming the one who presented the buttons is honest. why do you trust this man who orchestrated this scenario where up to half the human population dies?
i also think its kind of willfully stupid to argue that pressing red is more logical when the actual real poll had 60% of people choose blue. like this isnt even hypothetical people WILL choose blue in large enough numbers. at that point pressing red is just paranoia. objectively. you THINK or FEEL not enough will press blue so you press red and then you rationalize it.
the original premise of the thought exercise specified everyone given the choice makes a conscious informed decision. changing that premise is what I referred to as adding something to make it a heroic moral stand.
I do not believe that the people who answered the poll "I would press blue" would press blue, because as I said the question is a moral optical illusion. a poll on what you would press is the situation most optimized for playing into the "I know this is the kind of answer I have to give to be a good moral person" thing.
i would argue "it is made a heroic moral stand" by removing something form the original premise. removing the assumption of perfection
even your statement "i do not believe the people who answered the poll "i would press blue" would press blue" is an addition. you have to argue why you don't think the poll is representative of reality, instead of the much simpler solution of assuming that it is.
red only becomes the correct choice when you add something to the basic premise.
the original thought exercise may have been intentioned as a moral optical illusion but it fails at being one. it is a question of trust. do you trust that people are capable of making a simple, obviously correct decision or not. more than that its a question of whether most people trust other people themselves. because if they do they will pick blue. thats another reason picking red is paranoid. you only pick red if you both A) dont trust other people and B) think other people wont be trusting either. a paranoid person will rationalize that people are distrustful because being distrustful is logical, even when they are presented with evidence and arguments to the contrary.
the question is not about trust
it is not a referendum on your faith in humanity
it is "do you select the option that needlessly endangers yourself in order to save the most reckless people in the world?"
and empirically speaking, no you do not. because you do not follow the most reckless people into their folly to try and save them. this is not a matter of "omg how dare you say they deserve to die" it is a recognition of the fact that a person who made a choice that is extremely likely to kill them is in fact extremely likely to be killed by that choice and it does not create in you the obligation to endanger yourself saving them.
Why doesn't everyone just push the red button since there's literally no risk for anyone to do that?
I think a more interesting thought experiment would be to figure out whether the people who make these thought experiments are doing so:
A) to promote interesting discussions regarding ethics
B) to gain an obnoxious sense of moral superiority over the ones who chose differently than them
C) both
and in particular, if the As are still culpable for their thought experiments being turned into a B by others, considering that the more it keeps happening, the more likely they would already be aware of that (very likely) outcome before prosing their experiment.

@captainsquare I’m sorry both your tribes are fighting.
It's honestly amazing how many Hamasniks seem to genuinely believe that if Israel dissolves and is replaced by an arab-majority it will be a democracy where everyone lives in harmony.
Cuz ya know, that makes total sense. Current Palestinian societies are run by Jihadists who want to genocide the Jews, but if we just dissolve Israel and let them take over then they'll get rid of their extremist genocidal views and embrace democracy!
Buncha fucking idiots.
"Stop raping prisoners and killing kids"
"So you want a perfect utopia where nothing bad happens?"
Buddy, that is not what they say. 🤣 I'm not even gonna argue on the validity of those claims right now, but I am literally specifically talking about people who flat-out say they think that dissolving Israel will result in an arab-controlled democracy.
You trying to change that into "stop raping prisoners and killing babies" is HILARIOUSLY dumb.
It’s likely an alt of pointing-at-fascists; they’ve made several similar blogs with the sole purpose of spouting braindead insults to convince their audience of no one that they’re not an insufferable human cesspit. @siryouarebeingmocked probably has a list of them at this point to preblock.
Damn it’s been a good run but we really are dying for real once the show ends 😔
the voice actors for Ragatha, Gangle, and Zooble:
Finally we can end this abomination
I know nothing about this show and I'm happy to continue knowing nothing.
All I know is I hate the character design
The only thing I know is that it is yet another show where the fans are so insufferable they made the creator hate doing it.
It's not bad from the little I've seen of it, but it has the same problem as Undertale in that the fans are fucking psycopaths.
To be fair, it’s closer to Voltron or that show Kal likes uses GIFs from, in that unlike Undertale, the fandom is more focused on making the creators and cast miserable instead of just everyone else.
peeling those sour rainbow gummy strips into long thin strings and putting them into cheap energy drink to create something im calling battery acid spaghetti will update once ive finished it
dont do this
I really hope its not too bad bc i actually love both components.
it forms a dry skin at the top made of the sour pellets. not a great start.
tastes really good actually. i also feel like i am about to explode.
do not do this.
Unanimous consensus: Do not do this
Other people: Hold on I’m about to do this

So as we know. I do vtubing. I'm not known but I'm fine with that. It's a hobby at this point. However, I think I'm going to start trying (key word try) to script videos in the future and figure out a way to structure them in a way that makes the videos less long. I'll see how well that's goes.
I also have a model update in the pipeline.
The goal? Every Monday and Friday. Though maybe Tuesdays and Fridays. With potential streams now and again where I just so games or random topics while gaming.
Unfortunately I’m morally obligated to post this reaction image after seeing your VTuber model, and now that I know when you stream:
Light fountain in front of the Janáček Theatre, Brno, Czech Republic.
it's always "did you really need to burn down your workplace to prove a point" and never "how was the revenge arson? did you have fun doing revenge arson? were the flames pretty?"
🔥🔥🔥
Context for other users:
On the morning of April 7, 2026, a fire was started at the Kimberly-Clark Distribution Center in Ontario, California. It escalated to a six-alarm fire and took nearly twelve hours to extinguish. The facility was completely destroyed and declared a "total loss". There were no injuries or deaths. An employee who was working in the warehouse is accused of arson.
Authorities stated that the employee had shared videos of himself starting the fire on Facebook, saying "all you had to do was pay us enough to live" and "there goes your inventory" while lighting pallets of toilet paper ablaze.
ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS PAY US ENOUGH TO LIVE
No injuries. No deaths. This was a protest fire. This is why unions are important, to prevent frustrations like these, to ensure people are paid enough to live.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dumb question, but (taking the motive at face value) how would a union specifically have prevented this as opposed to warehouse just paying workers more?
"Anything destructive is good if you sound like a communist."
Do you think the heroic impoverished proletariat is doing better or worse now that their workplace has burned down and they can no longer perform labor in exchange for wages? Was this an effective action to empower the heroic impoverished proletariat, or was it destructive and helped nobody except as it provided masturbation material to communists?
Do you actually and literally know what they were actually paid in the actual real life world or are you just assuming that because the concept of money makes you upset, any violence and destruction was justified?
Guy who'll never be a millionaire let alone own a business in his life when someone torches a warehouse
"Dats wong! Noone ever got what they wanted using violence! You're supposed to dance on the side of the road at a government appropriate and approved protest! Thats how real change is made!"
I swear to god if the Boston tea party happened today tumblr centrists would find a way to fence sit about it.

Obviously this will achieve much more

What really makes the comedy here is that there is nothing at all that presents this fire as a unified protest by the workers. Indeed, it was SPECIFICALLY just one person, lashing out angrily at a job he disliked and felt unrewarded for. He may have used the term 'us' but there's absolutely nothing showing that it served anyone but himself.
It wasn't a protest against ICE. It wasn't some grand statement about Fascism. It did absolutely nothing about international exploitation (not that there even seems to be any notable examples of that attached to Kimberly-Clark as a company.)
It was quite simply some asshole working at a distribution warehouse burning everything down because he felt underpaid...
At a job where he was paid about 17-23 dollars an hour. Which is just above minimum wage in California, but California is a hellhole of bad policy decisions and extravagant costs.
So yeah. Basic form is that it's a shitty guy high on his own politics who destroyed his workplace because he wanted to be a folk hero. And unlike his heroes, he openly stated he did it so his plea of not guilty is kinda gonna go nowhere.
But idiotic communists have to act like this is a grand protest because if they did recognize this act for what it is, they'd have to realize that they have absolutely no sympathy or understanding for the common worker, and that's not something they're ready to recognize.
Yes, we all know you're sucking yourself off over this, it's all you're doing. You lack any form of class consciousness so you don't care about what harms are done to the proletariat. We all get it. This is a joke, and you're the punchline.
Also, if you just post a gif without any text, tumblr just lists it as a reblog and nothing else. If I hadn't spotted your name and realized you're the recent 'lolcow' I would have never realized you'd made a 'response'.
And as an aside what is it with commies making homophobic replies to things? Like, it's not shocking, their folk heroes all hated gay people of any variety but it's one of those mask off things I didn't expect here on tumblr.
"Homopobic"
What, did you think that Shawn Michaels miming himself felating a cock to piss off people wasn't a sign of homophobia? Motherfucker it was 90's WWE. That one image was homophobia on every level it's not my fault you accept it like it's nothing.
You throw around slurs and homophobia as if it's going out of style, specifically at gay people no less, and you think you shouldn't have it called out?
Again. You're the punchline here.
Imagine making a bunch of alts only to have nothing of value to say. Really damn embarrassing.

its so funny how so many common phrases are actually fragments of bigger ones saying the opposite fucking thing. like.
news flash: if youre saying any of the idioms on the left youve been punked! heres the REAL sayings:
"money is the root of all evil" -> the love of money is the root of all evil
"blood is thicker than water" -> the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb
"in for a penny, in for a pound" -> in for a penny, in for a pounding
"jack of all trades" -> jack of all trades, master of none
"a broken clock is right twice a day" -> a broken clock is only right twice a day
"birds of a feather stick together" -> birds of a feather stick together in the big glue trap they use to catch birds
"a stitch in time saves nine" -> a lilo and stitch live action sequel movie made in time for the christmas season saves the studio like nine dollars max in the long run because youre competing with like that one ryan reynolds musical or whatever and honestly its a really busy market and the last attempt sucked anyway so like maybe don't
"he who smelt it dealt it" -> he who smelt it dealt it and btw im talking about the blacksmith giving me a free iron ingot only. i hope no one takes me outta context LOL!
"the love of money is the root of all evil" -> for the love of god i need a soda so fucking bad im gonna kill someone. if i had money my ass would go to the 7 11 at four am in the fucking morning just to get myself a fucking barqs. is there some kinda charity that raises money for poor innocent gals to get a root beer when theyre in need of a drink or is all hope basically lost. evil
